Although lightly armed, the Mallard is primarily a Recon / Scout 'Mech. Although the 'Mech can serve as a spotter or light skirmisher, it's real purpose is to utilize it's C3 for scouting. A decent Light 'Mech hunter on account of the speed and Improved Jump Jets making it ideal for rough terrain.

If you're taking suggestions, I'd trade the MASC for an ECM to protect the C3's function.
With that jumping range, you don't need MASC's ground speed boost in most circumstances.
