Ninja EDIT: This Design and it's X2 Variant both have a Full Head Ejection System. Neither this nor it's X2 Variant are the same Galvenhawk as the 75-tonner, as the chassis was re-built from the ground up by WoB using the GLVN-HWK as the basis.

-- Designer's Notes:

--- The "X-Hawk" or "Galvenhawk X" is a full overhaul of the Galvenhawk. This design was brought back by the Word of Blake, who used their technological expertise to finally solve all of the 2525 and 3060 era Galvenhawk's problems. As well as make drastic improvements. This design, the base variant of the GLVN-HWK-X Galvenhawk is based off the 3060 'Super Galvenhawk' GLVN-HWK-S and effectively remedies a great deal of the design flaws that held it back; namely the ammo feed issues and mobility issues. Both this design, and it's later variant the X2, are 80-ton Assault 'Mechs designed off the 75-ton Heavy 'mech of the same name and are built from the ground up on a completely different chassis. Confusion ensues.

--- The GLVN-HWK-X has many notable construction differences. It's Light Fusion Engine has an odd mounting configuration along with a XL Gyro, both of which require the use of Non-Standard Parts to accomplish. The entire frame is built using an Endo-Steel Chassis, meaning that it's "bones" are actually three and a half tons LIGHTER than it's 2525 and 3060 cousins all while having comparable ( In fact slightly better ) integrity to it's 75-ton namesake. Both of the original Galvenhawk's original Ammo Bays have been removed and in the case of the Head, a Full Head Ejection System was mounted in it's place. While the original Galvenhawk had a cramped cockpit from having the pilot sit on the AC/20 ammo, the Galvenhawk X mounts an ACTUAL Small Cockpit, meaning the only real change despite the Full Head Ejection System was that instead of sitting on 1 metric ton of Really Bad Day *Trademark, the pilot was sitting on a life-giving Guardian ECM Suite; which incidentally would be ejected with them to save on costs for repair / refit.

--- Aside from the engineering differences, the Galvenhawk-X has a weapon load-out that makes it kind of a "two steps forward, one step back" kind of upgrade. While the LRM-15 is brought back with a more than adequate 2-tons of now mixable ammo, it brings to the table an ECM shielded Artemis IV FCS, making the ammo variations somewhat sub-optimal. Although in the case of the LRM system one could in effectively strip the Artemis IV FCS for another ton of ammo and mix to their hearts content. With the introduction of the Ultra AC/20 as a replacement for the AC/20 however, this goes out the window as it will only accept dedicated Ultra Autocannon rounds. In the same vein, while another trio of Medium Lasers is added on top of the first three, all six are downgraded to standard versions, effectively negating the range advantage of it's "Super" predecessor. Furthermore the 'Mech cannot fire all of it's short range weapons and the Ultra Autocannon twice without generating significant heat, combined with a super-toasty ( TOASTY! ) Alpha Strike which effectively cripples the BattleMech's Medium Range capabilities when compared to it's cooler running inspiration. The retention of the TAG does give the Galvenhawk X the same spotting ability as it's older "Super" competitor, and the ability to mix Semi-Guided LRMs to boot.

--- All in all, the Galvenhawk X is a interesting design that makes strides to solve a variety of problems with the original design. The 4/6/2 movement profile gives it lots of mobility, even more so now that it's technically an Assault 'Mech. Fifteen tons of Standard Armor with the retention of the CASE and Guardian ECM Suite make this Galvenhawk every bit as durable as it's legacy, while the addition of a Full Head Ejection System means a commander can commit his / her best Mechwarriors with confidence. The weaponry retains, indeed exaggerates the 'Mechs quirky charm, and the new Galvenhawk X is every bit as capable in it's predecessor's role. In summary, a worthy ( if costly ) Assault 'Mech for those who liked their Galvenhawks, but wanted something bigger and more modern. Attachment (138 downloads)
