I'd probably remove the Small Lasers in the legs for some jump jets so that it can get itself out of a jam (like if terrain collapses beneath it and it gets stuck). A Small Cockpit would also be a handy thing to have, especially since it's a Drone Unit, and the extra weight you have available could go to Communications Equipment, or something. Additionally, you could install Spot Welders in the arms if it needs to cut through something point blank.

Also, since it is a robot, you can go ahead and use the No Ejection Mechanism and Poor Life Support quirks, and use that to make room for Improved Communications.

This is from the OLD Mechwarrior RPG 1st Edition they built it using the mech rules...

Oh. I had no idea >.<

I'd still give it Jump Jets, Commercial Armor and a Small Drone Cockpit. It would be a more practical/cost effective design overall <.<

Yeah not a big fan of the commercial armor or the silliness they came up with for many of the lower tech mech components.

Fair enough.

My reasoning for mounting Jump Jets and Small Cockpit:
- Removing a single small laser from the Right Leg wouldn't impact much in terms of functionality, especially since this isn't intended to be a combat unit, but would free up enough weight for single Jump Jet.
- Switching to a Small Cockpit would not penalize the unit from cramped conditions, since it does not have a pilot. For the same reason, it doesn't need Life Support. As such, you would free up enough weight for two more Jump Jets.
- Having three Jump Jets is practically the bare minimum for getting out of a claustrophobic situation, like if a cave-in occurs or it gets stuck in a ditch, and it certainly has critical space for it.

if you are running with the time frame, I believe the small cockpit wasn't available yet.
I would also think this is not intended to be a mech used in combat, though in tough times might be.

I would think a power claw or something that is better for digging would be an idea, if you don't intend on using it in combat.
And to be honest, anyone in game would shy away from small cockpits as they carry the piloting penalty, and they are cramped. Not much movement for anyone of a decent size.

Again, it's a robot. If I understand correctly, then that basically means it can be considered a drone unit, and thus shouldn't suffer any penalties.

Besides, that is like saying Inner Sphere mechs/vehicles during the Succession Wars would never have access to Chemical Lasers just because they are technically Jihad-era Clan Tech, when in fact they're extremely primitive and we're invented long before the Free Electron Lasers that have become standard on basically every mech.

I'm not so sure that the bots wouldn't suffer the penalty. I recall reading about something in Interstellar Operations in the bot section that states they take the usual penalties of the unit, but I could be wrong.

If no one is building the Chemical lasers and their ammunition, even if they're tech-wise easier to produce than the standard lasers, then IS hardware de facto lacks access to Chemical lasers.

Again this was built LONG before all of the changes happen to the game, back from the original Mechwarrior RPG book, stats are in it.

I see Level 2 rules

Going to assume the rules are early to mid 1990s and around the introduction of the Clan invasion ?

-IS got the endo-steel, double heatsink, masc, and XL engine (+ ferror-fibrous armour, but not used here)
-clan has half the crit space of the IS, weapons are far more efficient, and they just roll over the IS

Let me try this again, the original stats are in the ORIGINAL MECHWARRIOR RPG book from the 80s, the one with the cool cockpit artwork, are we tracking here? Better yet here is the Wiki link,

http://www.sarna.net/wiki/MechWarrior,_First_Edition

The stats are under the robot section if you have the dead tree format version aka the printed copy.
