---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To make a long story short, someone on the other forum quipped that Protomechs are average master of nones and that if they could "fit a cERLL or 4 LRM-5s while staying under 300 BV that would really be something". Since a cERLL by itself is nearly 250 BV, that would be impressive, and take some doing.
Basically, it's not a protomech, but here's my lightweight, cheap clan ER LL joke vehicle with low C-Bill costs and even cheaper BV, probably because its a slow can made of tin-foil that'll penetrate itself in one turn. Even then, the design's not quite at 300 BV and hovered around at 350 BV, which skyrockets if you try to get it much faster.

What? This isn't the unit you use to ambush mechs from a ridge? Just have hundreds in that area and fire at once?
Maybe you should tell them 1/2 speed with no armor might work. Not sure if protos can use double sinks, but make singles the only thing that can use for this mech.

When you say cERLL are you referring to the Clan ER Large Laser ?

Or you could maybe use an ultra light mech like a 10 or 15 frame and mount the same weapon...now the issue would be the speed to stay under 300 BV, but then again that is the issue with BV it limits things FAR to much.

They were talking about the Sprite, correct?
http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Sprite
That proto, especially the 'Sprite 2' version, is an interesting machine. It does indeed rock a clan ER large laser. I have never messed with designing protos, but if the description is accurate, that 10 ton proto is apparently far more durable than most light mechs. From the wiki:
"One very valuable feature of the Sprite is its heavy armor. The ProtoMech can survive an Autocannon/20 hit to the torso."
Large numbers of those would be a beast to deal with. Individually durable enough to require focused attention from larger more dangerous machines, very good range, and each one can put out a 10 point hit every turn. Just going strictly by weight, I'd bet that six Sprite 2's could kill any 60 ton mech almost all of the time, whereas your joke vehicle would die from being breathed on too hard.

The unit was supposed to remain under 300 bv. The sprites are 500+.
Though the actual vehicle violated that as well.
