Designer Notes:
The Type-20 is my first ever BattleMech to make use of the Thunderbolt Missile system. The concept is a pretty straight forward Striker / Flanker. The units four Thunderbolt-5 Missile Launchers are fed by a total of tow tons of ammo, giving each a solid minute (six salvos) of firing time. Five and a half tons of Heavy Ferro-Fibrous Armor paired with a 7/11 movement profile make the Type-20 durable AND hard to hit, which is good considering it's built on a frail Composite Chassis and houses an eXtralight Fusion Engine AND eXtralight Gyroscope in order to squeeze all of this in. The Type-20 is therefore effectively a Glass Cannon sort of design, albeit an odd duck among them. The design relies on it's combination of speed and armor to stay alive, while it's Thunderbolt Missile Launchers effectively give it the range and firepower of a quartet of AC/5s, allowing it to dish out plenty of damage.
This mech began life after seeing the Chaparral SAM Luancher and thinking those missiles would look good on a BattleMech as arms. Thusly, the Type-20 has no Hand or Lower Arm Actuators, making the Flanker difficult to flank. An all around excellent Striker, Skirmisher, Flanker, and bantam weight Fire Support 'Mech for anyone with roughly 5 Million C-Bills to burn.
