Hmm, I feel both the PPC and AC/5 are rather redundent together. Why not drop 1 weapon for an LRM or SRM combo?

I would agree with the LRMs depending on how it is used. Maybe have smaller racks of both. But the ac/ppc combo actually simplifies the use of the vehicle. Same range, minimum, even same brackets for s/m/l.
This actually seems to be a good training vehicle with both weapons. Also learn to drive a hover.

(OP, your link links to a 50 ton surface ship with like 3075 tech, not a 3025 hover.) Nothing wrong with this design really, considering the limitations of 3025 tech. I think more punch could be achieved in 17 tons of equipment, with an AC-10, one ton of ammo, three medium lasers, an MG and a half ton of ammo. (or two tons AC10 ammo and no MG.) A hover has enough speed to get in quickly and use short/medium range weapons well, especially when dashing to an enemy mech's vulnerable rear arcs.
