--- -- The Trapper is a niche 40-ton unit designed for a very specific role: TSEMP Fire Support. The unit utilizes Armless Construction on a Standard-Grade BattleMech Chassis to help cut costs, while a Small Cockpit, Compact Gyro help to shed weight and free up space to mount the Trapper's twin TSEMP Cannons. A 200-Rated Light Fusion Engine is augmented by Myomer Accelerator Signal Circuitry to give the Trapper ample speed for it's weight class while enabling it to perform lighting fast flanking maneuvers as well as the capacity to retreat from most engagements if the tides should turn against it. The Trapper is clad in seven and a half tons Stealth Armor and fitted with a Beagle Active Probe to assist whatever units it is assigned to in both sniffing out their prey and staging ambushes.
--- -- The role of TSEMP Fire Support is a niche one, and at nearly the cost of an Atlas, the Trapper is quite a hefty investment to be sure. However, the Hunter is a BattleMech designed to afford 'Mechs much smaller than an Atlas the possibility of facing down one and living to tell the tale. At just five tons more than a Light 'Mech, the Trapper is easy to fit in the Mech Bay of a DropShip, and with it's copious allotment of ECW gear; the Trapper makes a serviceable scout as well. Overall, the Trapper is a handy force-multiplier and a boon to any Lance in just about any situation; adding the welcome ability to fry and/or shut down just about any OmniMech or BattleMech it comes across.
