Hello again from WA,

On AT2 Revised p. 66 Small Craft, DropShips, JumpShips, Warships, and Space Stations require 10 rounds/shots for all but two weapons. An Ultra Auto-cannon requires 20 and a Rotary Auto-cannon 60 rounds.

Example 2 has the warship armed with 2 NAC/30 (+ 50 rounds of ammo) (7,040 tons). The 2 NAC/30's mass 7,000 tons, leaving 40 tons for ammo.
Checking the Capital Weapons Table on p. 162 under ammo (tons) column is the annotation of 0.8. Taking 50/0.8 ammo (tons) = 62.5 tons which is 22.5 tons more than listed. Next 40 tons x 0.8 = 32 rounds.

Can anyone shed some light on what I am doing wrong please.

The wiki says the nac 30 ammo has 1.25 shots per tons, or 5 shots for 4 tons. So that does equal the +50 rounds at 40 tons.
Now 50 times .8 comes to 40. So it sounds like instead of dividing by .8 it is supposed to be multiplied by .8 to get the weight.

Without having the books, and just going by the math, it works out like I said. Not sure if there is something misprinted, or just being put into the equation wrong.

Thank you for the reply and providing the answer on how 40 tons of ammo equals 50 rounds. The 5/4 entry you found appears to be the same entry found in CGL TO on p. 408. Based on the explanation I received for cruise missiles on bg.battletech.com and testing I did after reading your post I agree that the fractional rounds per ton is divided into the reload tonnage.
