Designer's Notes:

--- -- This 'Mech is a strange ode to a... interesting 'Mech, the Bombardier. My introduction to BT was around when I was 6. I played MechWarrior2, Ghost Bear's Legacy and MechWarrior 2: Mercenaries. At the time I had no idea it was board game (war game) and was happily enjoying both the games and the cringey cartoon of the same. I even had the Axeman with the "Full-Head" Ejection System. When Playing MechWarrior 2 and Ghost Bear's Legacy, I always took a Mad Dog... I had over 75 variants of it. Loved that 'Mech to pieces and still do. Through the chunky graphics I imagined it bellowing missiles at my foes, and when Mercenaries came along I looked for it, to no avail. Yes, yes, I know, I know... it's in there, but a six / seven years old, I didn't get that far in the game and mainly stayed in Instant Action mode just to use it. However, after my first try at the "Full" game of Mercenaries, where I sold my Commando to buy an UrbanMech and MAKE money on the transaction thinking I was (at six or so mind you) very cleverly exploiting the system, turned into a trash fire (pun intended); I took some time away before trying again. I decided to do the Rough Riders contract, and saw they had a Bombardier! And what's more it looked just as cool as a Mad Dog (in extra chunky graphics land at least. To wit, I still like the Bombardier's aesthetics after I looked it up on SARNA) So I tried (and failed) to get it. Fast forward to today, and I'm going to try to get my Role-Playing group to try the tabletop version with me.

--- -- So, now to the Design. This unit uses another weird thing I have a soft spot for... the MRMs. Specifically a pair. Some of this was inspired by a JMInc. design based of the Archer mounting a pair of MRM 30s or some nonsense. Well, this one has pair of MRM 20s, and a set of LRM 20s. The MRMs are fed by three tons of ammo, while the LRMs are fed by five tons. A quartet of ER Small Lasers helps to support the 'Mech when it's ammo is dry. Twelve tons of armor is comparable to it's progenitor, while the Composite Chassis and XL Engine are there to ensure it can cram all this firepower in... and mount back-up weapons and have reasonable armor AND not move like a slug in molasses... or an UrbanMech. It gets fifteen shots with the LRMs and thirteen shots with the MRMs, so a pilot can fire somewhat judicially with both. Hand Actuators let it make some use of the ten tons the Bombardier II has gained, as well as assist a pilot to stand if they fall. Finally a C3 Slave rounds out the design by offering better to-hit values with both the MRMs AND the LRMs if a second c3 equipped unit is on hand and in range.

And as always, enjoy!
