I like two ancient Age of War heavies, the Battleaxe
https://www.sarna.net/wiki/BattleAxe
and the Hammerhands
https://www.sarna.net/wiki/Hammerhands
(I actually like them more than the heavies from the original Battletech game; i.e. Warhammer, Marauder, Thunderbolt etc.) So I thought I'd make sort of a combo unit: This is the Pickaxe. Slightly better heat management than the aforementioned designs, but it still manages to have a dual-ten-point wallop with backup crit finders/short range weapons. Well armored, only one ton under effective max. And some fricking hands; early-era designs had many many crits to spare but so few of them included fully articulated arms despite really no reason for excluding them. Even if you don't intend to close to brawling distance they help in standing up, in carrying loot, in being a workmech in peacetime, etc.
If a current-era scrounger found a warehouse or derelict ship with some ancient Pickaxes, upgrading them to decent effectiveness wouldn't be too hard. (for instance, use specialty AC-10 ammo, a ton each of Precision and Armor-Piercing will greatly increase the cannons effectiveness. Pull out the small lasers to add a capacitor to the PPC.)

The BattleAxe was at one time one of the Battledroid mechs till it disappeared for some reason...
