A garrison company would do well to have one of these, as it's a cheap and effective way to quickly wipe out battle armor formations (or any infantry). It is vulnerable to every other type of unit though due to low speed and light armor. Does it really need the turret? That is a heavy two-ton mechanism, dropping that could get you a more respectable six tons of armor. Depending on era Heavy ferro fibrous would also net you a few more armor points (highest points per ton of any armor type IIRC)

Realistically? Yes. It does need a turret. Some fire positions would not allow a frontal weapon to attack.
Game wise. This allows the unit to support multiple units in the field without having to move the unit for attacks that would otherwise be on the flanks. Especially if bunkered down.
Interesting that you got a long tom in such a small vehicle. Guess I got used to the canon one in the TRO:3026 book.
The heavy ferro or hardened armors might work well, but costs might be an issue. Have to let Karagin answer that one, cause I don't know.
As with most units like this, ECM might be a good thing, but weight and costs.

I had forgotten I had posted this one.
The turret is there to allow better firing arcs and not needing to move the vehicle as much as was pointed out. A fixed frontal gun would limit its ability to engage targets.
Heavy Ferro, I could do that, not sure if it's worth losing movement though, this is a vehicle and as nerfed as the rules are for damage to a vehicle any slower it's not worth using it.
ECM is an idea to look at.
