I've been trying to get the costs for all of the 3025 era 'Mechs. I've seen prices on SARNA, MUL, and a few different FASA publications that didn't line up, so I tried calculating them myself using the instructions in the Compendium manual, and Tech Manual.
I got about twenty exact matches with Sarna listings, three that were only off by 1 C-bill, and thirty-two that were off by quite a bit. Some seemed like a typo surely occurred, such as the Enforcer where a 3 and a 5 are transposed. I didn't see a price on the Javelin page, but after looking on the "edit" page I noticed it was listed with 2400840 even though it doesn't show up for me.
It seems like most places on the internet that list a price for a 'Mech are referencing some licensed publication for their answer. Given how often I was able to calculate the exact price of a 'Mech by following the instructions, I'm thinking that the intention was that each 'Mech's cost is to be done in this way, rather than given some arbitrary cost for fluff reasons. If anyone wants to verify some of the costs from the list below that don't match, I'd really appreciate it as I'm trying to work the bugs out of my spreadsheets. And, ultimately, I'd like to make sure the wiki has the correct numbers.
The first cost is the one I came up with, and the second one is the cost I found on the wiki:

Thanks for the work you put into this!
As for the data at hand... phew. It may be an exercise in futility.
I don't think BattleMechs *have* a set price, certainly not in the sense of a MSRP. The rulebooks are meant imho to give a ballpart estimation of the price per unit during production, but most of the time a 'Mech is literally priceless. It's a seller's market, after all, particularly in the classic 3025 era scavenger economy and again in the Dark Age. As a GM, I never wasted a thought on any "official" price tag. They were worth whatever a potential seller could get for them.
If a canonical product spells out a price tag somewhere then that's certainly notable on the 'Mech's article. I'm less sure about a value determined from a set of rules, because these are bound to change.

I agree that 'Mechs are essentially priceless. I can't imagine how a listed price would hold across the entire known universe, spanning hundreds or thousands of years in time as well. But at the same time, I didn't want to think that the listed costs were useless information. I'm sure some people balance their game scenarios on costs of units (especially in long campaigns or RPGs where purchasing and repairing is involved), and for those times there might be an instance of the specific numbers being important.
