Another week passed, and I'm back.

I got a new "girlfriend". A M16A1 rifle. I get to sleep with it in the same sleeping bag while in camp so no one even thinks about stealing it... Needless to say, its a less than comfortable arrangement, but it works.
Other than that, it was a less than exciting week. I didn't make it to the spec-ops company. But ohh well. Not like I wanted the fancy job anyways ;)

they still use M16s? i thought the US and its Allies standardized on its cousin, the M4 Carbine...

Nope. The IDF uses the M16A1, M16A2 and M16A3 assault rifles, as well as their shortened versions. In addition we use the Galil assault rifle, Tavor assault rifle, M24 sniper rifle, the AK-47, the .50 Barrett, the H&K 21 LMG, M-249 LMG, the IMI Negev LMG, the M.A.G LMG, the Uzi and its variations.
Atleast that's the stuff you'd know by looking at soldiers in the streets or in checkpoints. There's other things, but, you know....
