Glad to see some who like it...every one in my group would gang up on this mech...so I stopped using it.

As munchy as anything else currently in the game. :P

I think it would a nice match up against a Dire Wolf A or C.

Nasty design. Name kinda lacks originality.

But otherwise, yeah, if I saw it coming, I'd start focusing all my attention on it, doing my best to keep my stealth systems engaged and attack it from extreme range under cover.

Which brings me to the point that it would act as a wonderful distraction for other forces....

Evil. Pure Evil.

Yeah, I know the name is not that original, I have about 20 mechs with borrowed names. Needed something to call it and those names came up, ran with it.

Glad you find the mech to be something to fear, if you want to use it feel free.

Thanks, but I have my own designs I'm using, no offense.

I mean sheesh, I have my own version of that: a Dire Wolf with jump jets, 4 large pulse lasers, targeting computer, and a 0/2 Star Col. with pulse laser specialty, and laser gunnery firing all of those at extreme range.

Munch, munch, munch...got any more popcorn?

How is your version the same? The mech has:

Armament:
1 Gauss Rifle
4 ER Medium Lasers
2 ER PPCs
1 LRM 20
1 ER Large Laser

How does that equate to:
4 Large Pulse Lasers
Targerting Computer

and an elite pilot? I am a little confused here. You are also aware that they have changed the rules on Pulse Lasers and Targeting computer correct? You no longer gain the dual bonus of the Targeting Computers -1 to the to hit roll along with the -2 of pulse lasers, it is either one or the other now.

If you have not gotten the new rule book sets, Total War, Tactical Operations, Tech Manual, Stratgeic Operations, you may want to invest in them.

I do have Tactical Operations, mind you. I was just comparing one form of munch versus another.

It will be interesting to see how your mech fares versus mine, since yours has more overall firepower downrange, while mine is jump-capable and is more accurate at extreme range (the only two weapons of yours that out-range mine are the Gauss rifle and the ER large laser while the others are equal at extreme range).

The true test of a mech is not how it does in 1 v 1 combat but how it does in actual combat lance / star level or above.

Played a company vs binary battle once and found that the most unlikely mechs were kings.

The name maybe munchy, but the weapon load is a far cry from munchy, it builds up heat, in fact way too much heat, thus it will never alpha strike (thank the gods for that) and thus none of the munchkin players would bother using it.

I am just not following the munch part of the topic, but it would be interesting to see how they would fight, with AVERAGE pilots in them.

Anyway, back on track: I tried your loadout, and personally, I would have the ER Med Lasers stripped out, and replaced with more ammo (2 for the Gauss Rifle, 2 for the LRM 20). This way the heat is better managed, and the firepower lasts longer in an extended battle situation.
