==Overview:==
The Galahad was first seen on the battlefields at the beginning of the 26th century. The original version launched was considered a medium fire-support 'Mech. Problems with overheating forced a redesign and a consequent increase in weight. The revised Galahad still failed to meet the hopes of its design team, and it took two centuries for this version to appear on the battlefield.

==Capabilities:==
Armed with twin Gauss rifles, this 60-ton BattleMech offers excellent striking power but lacks the armor to take the punishment a larger 'Mech should withstand. As a result, the Galahad is assigned almost exclusively to fire-support missions, out of the way of direct control.
The Gauss rifle represents the main advantage of the Galahad, especially the 'Mech's dreaded ability to flip those weapons over and bring all its firepower to bear in the rear arc in the same manner as the Rifleman. Most MechWarriors discount the Galahad's rear firing arc because its rear armor is very thin. Many detractors sometimes forget that this 'Mech is about fire-support, in particular against airborne targets.

The Galahad is a good example of design meeting intent, and the rotating weapons allow the pilot to track a target quickly and efficiently and allow him to bring the massive firepower of the mech to bear on the target.

==Battle History:==
Currently the Galahad is seeing fighting in the Reunifaction Wars.

==Variants:==
Testing of switching out the Gauss Rifles for a set of ER PPC and some extra heat sinks or going with ER Large Lasers over the ER PPCs. At this time nothing has been finialized.

==Deployment==
Found in all SLDF units currently fighting in the Periphery and found among the units protecting Terra.

My Blurp:

I have three other version...two of them try to stay true to the original on the speed issues, but end up lossing a lot of the armor...the other one is more of a 3060 variant, with two UAC10s and two ER MLs, but has the same speed as this one.

Let me know if you want to see the other's posted.

Some suggestions:

Use single heat sinks. Even with singles it won't notice the 1st engine crit, so who needs doubles?
Single heatsinks will also free up enough space to add ferrofibrous armor.

It would differ from the original, but placing the gauss ammo in the adjoining side torso might be good. It would soak up some critical hits, preventing the crits from transfering to the center almost immediately. It would also provide extra ammo to the opposite arm, should the near arm suffer damage.

I wouldn't consider the speed to be a big disadvantage, as killing the mech almost always means getting in its gunsights. Garrison mechs rarely need to travel anyway. But if you really want the speed, use a 240XL engine.
