Here are two that my local GM came up with.

The first is what we like to call the "Lucky Son of a *****" rule.

Anyone who roles a 20 on two or more life path events automatically gets the "Lucky Son of a *****" package.

Essentially he gets three extra edge, +4 in any five skills of his choice, wealth (3), and the owns vehicle/mech.

Of course, the least deserving and worst playing person always ends up managing this one.

The other thing is to make us draw lots for our characters. He reach in the hat, pull out a number, and go to the corresponding sheet.

My friend drew the cremé de la cremé:
He's a tailor/Clan war orphan.

But, he decided to exact his own kind of revenge on the GM by taking every flaw he could think of just to make the character more complicated:
Addiction: demoral
Bad Reputation: FRR
Quirk: Xenophobia
Quirk: Hypochondria
Quirk: Obsessive/Compulsive
Quirk: Loyalty to Clan Wolf
Enemy: (5) Khan Phelan Kell
In For Life: Free Masons
Stigma: Gimp
Stigma: Clan colaborator
Stigma: Orphan
Lost Limb: right foot
Lost Limb: left eye
Glass Jaw
Slow Learner
Poverty
Poor Vision (3)
Poor Hearing (3)
Combat Paralysis
Then just to make it worse:
Owns Vehicle (5) AS7-K Atlas

Anybody else have any weird stories?

You realize, of course, in MW3 that bad traits buy less and less points, right?

In fact, I did have a character who was an exploiter.

He was a paranoid, klepto, with mild retardation. I don't know HOW he ever managed to pilot his LAM, much less have gained gainful employment in Aces & Eights Mercenary unit.

We were doing some RP'ing, and he found a mug in the Mech bay...he examined it.

"Coffee stains," I said, "and a label on it which says, 'Tech Haynes'."

He swiped it anyway.

Then, later on that night, he broke out of the VPQ (Visiting Pilot's Quarters [3025 campaign]) and in the process set off the fire alarm.

I had to babysit the guy for the first few games. After that, the campaign broke up, because all the other players got sick of him.

The truly sadist thing a gm can do is give you xp as stated in the book, it takes weeks of play just to raise one skill by one point.
