Are there any official rules for the Heavy Gauss rifle when used in space? The fluff states that it loses damage at range because the big projectile loses velocity very quickly. In space, without the effects of atmosphere and gravity, would the Heavy Gauss do 25 damage across its entire range? Also, would that range be medium or long?

No significant friction, no significant gravity, then the range should be the same as any other Gauss rifle in space.

If the regular and light Gauss rifles have the same range in space, use that for the heavy too. I doubt the rules are that rational, so it will probably be one range unit less than a regular.

And why would that be--there's nothing to slow it down!

That isn't why it does 25/20/10 anyway. Never was.

Wait, wait! I recall this coming up on the Precentor Martial forum. Randall Bills answered, and I recall making a post in reply. Something to the effect of:

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

Because it just took a big, steaming dump on basic physics.

Anyway, the answer is: the damage still drops at range, just like in the atmosphere. You know: 25/20/10 at short/medium/long.
