I have seen countless arguments over the new MW:DA game. One point that I saw was along the lines of "Same storyline, so it should be the same game" or whatever desire was used.
Then I remembered, Shadowrun and Earthdawn were set in the same timeline, just 5000 or so years apart. I propose people consider this relationship because both games continued to exist and, as far as I know, Shadowrun did not kill Earthdawn.
Conversions were made by fans, and you can find the Shadowrun stats of your favorite Earthdawn nasties online. WizKids will most likely not oppose fans making MW:DA stats for any or all CBT mechs, but neither that nor the Shadowrun rules for Earthdawn critters is likely to be declared "official" by anyone involved with either storyline.

Battletech does not require minis...that is, some people insist. I already have been set straight on this, by several people.
But I guess what I was trying to say is that your parallel is not exact.
Perhaps I should have asked, "Was one system set up to rob the other system of players?"
