Disclaimer: I am not an expert Warship designer, and I don't even think I am. I don't do math well late at night or early in the morning, so this probably contains some errors. I will not be hurt by your commentary, no matter how harsh (contrary to popular opinion.)

It occured to me (yet again) that the Vincent Corvette sucks. This is a state of affairs that does not need to exist. It's a highly maneuverable vessel of some 412000 tons. It can be loaded to the gills with guns and armor and keep up with some of the universe's OTHER Corvettes. Lending to this travesty is the fact that the Vincent was designed with "smart modularity." It's to Warships what a Mercury is to 'Mechs, and yet neither FanPro nor FASA has ever seen fit to correct the most heinous error in its design: the fact that it, quite simply, blows chunks. I did, and here's my attempt. I tried to keep the spirit of the design, while increasing its combat performance.

{What's the SI?}

The idea is quite sound, and I applaud your purpose.

However, you've managed to pick the absolute worst capital weapons. And placed them on the broadside arcs instead of the larger Nose, aft, or side arcs. Plus you really, really need some anti-fighter weapons. And you still have over 12% cargo.
NL/35s sacrifice range for absolutely zero increase in efficiency, and L N-Gauss are even less efficient than NLs or NPPCs (let alone NACs). And Capital missiles, except as 5rpg backup weapons for dropships, are even worse.

I'd suggest leaving only 5% or less cargo, and using NL/55s and plenty of Large Pulse Lasers (AKA Clan God Weapons). Maybe 4 NL and 15 LPL per arc (and just 19 LPLs in the BS arcs to save tonnage, if you really want to). You'll come out about the same in firepower, but save some money. Easily increase your firepower by adding NLs and removing LPLs to taste (to stay less than 20/arc), or even go above 20 (you'll incur 110% tonnage). By going to 5% cargo you could easily double the above firepower (8 NL/55 + 31 LPL per arc).

I'm going to second Nathan on the guns; I was a bit more verbose on CBT.

And if I wasn't clear enough on CBT: I love the idea.

SI is 40.

Thought I should clear that up here, too.

When the Snow Raven Corvette Huninn reported for drydocking on April 1, 3062, few could have expected that it would lead to a massive improvement in the Vincent-class Corvette generally.
Huninn had a problem: its Port-side armaments had been damaged beyond repair in a freak meteor storm. Upon arrival, it was discovered that the drydock facility had no NAC/10s to replace the mauled cannons.
What WAS available were a pair of Heavy Naval Gauss Cannon which had been scheduled for the Volga-Class Transport Tenacity.
Deciding that the Corvette's refit took priority over that of the non-combatant transport, yard officials ordered the Naval Cannons placed into Huninn's broadsides, with the Starboad broadside cannon being re-mounted to the Port-Forward bay.
Snow Raven technicians shrugged their shoulders and got to work, thankful the Vincent had been designed with "Smart Modularity" technology that would make the refit easy.
Huninn left drydock on April 29, 3062, it's broadside armament much improved. This was not, however, to be the last of the changes made to the vessel.
In 3063, growing concern regarding the now-contested inviolability of Warships and the emerging class of Combat Dropships prompted a re-evaluation of the role of the Vincent Corvette generally. Considered by some (largely due to some minor actions fought by the Huninn with its new Gauss Cannons) to be the ideal vessel for opposing Dropship assaults on Warships fleets, the Vincent was nonetheless found to be too short on armor and firepower to do the job.
Thus, on October 7, 3063, Huninn was drydocked again for a massive refit. Its thin armor plating was replaced with 336 metric tons of Lamellor Ferro-Carbide, supposed by the scientists who supervised the refit to be the most that would do the vessel's aging frame any good. At the request of the Huninn's crew, who enjoyed the increased firepower and range of the Gauss Cannons and the lack of danger from the Autocannons' exhaust gases, the forward cannons were also replaced with Gauss Cannons.
Two Heavy Naval Lasers replaced each Large Laser, using a design that housed the majority of the optics in cargo bays near the Laser firing ports, and firing alternately. Maelstrom AR-10 systems replaced the forward Barracuda missile systems and were mounted along the vessel's broadside to provide insurance against fighter attack, with the missiles being housed in the Vincent's cavernous hold. Double-strength freezers replaced the standard heat sinks the Vincent had come equipped with.
Finally, the ship's crew capacity was expanded to 163 (with extra crew being needed to serve the Vincent's added guns,) adding 42 second class cabins to the Vincent's plushly-appointed crew cabins, and provisions were made for 25 Elemental Marines to defend the vessel against boarding.
Deemed sufficiently refitted, the Huninn slipped its moorings on December 23, 3063. In the following year it won some significant glory, at one point defeating a Lola III-Class Destroyer, among other heroic deeds. The Snow Ravens judged the design good, and refitted their other Vincent-Class Corvette, Muninn, in 3065.
A flurry of Trials of Possession for the design ensued and by 3067, every Vincent in the Clan fleet had been refitted to the new Mk 52 specification.

If you are going to keep the N-Gauss rifles move them to the nose and use them like a spinal mount like RenLeg has...that's what I do when I use N-Gausses.

Also use some of the cargo space for other things you don't need that much on a warship...now if this was a converted merchant ship then I would say keep all the cargo space.

Also you need some close in weapons like standard Lg. Pulse Lasers or Gausses...mainly for anti-fighter work.

Again take some of the cargo space and add more armor and SI. Also your grav decks might need to be a tad bigger, but that is a personal call...

Over all dropping the cargo tonnage down to say 10,000 and using the left over weight is the best way to improve the ship.
