I hear about restarting an empire, is there a limit to this? it'll probably take me 4 or 5 tries before I get the hang of things. I presume you CANNOT have these 4 or 5 tries at the same time.
also, the "world map" AKA zoom lev 4, dosent seem to match up with zoom lev 3. I cant find myself on the world map, nor can I understand it all to well... can someone help me out?

Well you can't have more than one empire with the same name, but there is no limit to the number of empires you run .Many people run a couple of main empires then a couple more for staging attacks on enemies without pointing the finger at their major empires! I run 16...
Just make sure the empires don't interact financially or duel each other (fines or deletions for that!) , although if you have a high level empire , you could create a faction and have your other empires join and tax them..
You can also attack your own empires in landwar quite legally. Of course if the empire attacked has all its infantry disbanded and has been buying lots of vehicles it never commissioned then all the better for the attacking empire when it wins! You could even have the sacrifical empire declare war on the larger attacker to reduce the costs of the attack on it !

I found myself on the wrold map. took forever. only 2 empires were the same shape on lev 4 as lev 3. looks like the lev 4 map needs to be updated.
and thanx for the info. I'll wait a week or so, getting used to the interface, before starting my other empires.

I'm sure even if technically legal (and I question weather it is), this kind of cheating would quickly result in dev. action.

All right, commission all the vehicles but don't train them.
Place them on the map and command them not to move! Units with long ranged weapons can be placed in forests/behind hills which negates their range advantage.
Attack this empire , kill the vehicles , get salvage sometimes worth more than the vehicle itself. Since the units still defend themselves (at a disadvantage ..) it can't be called cheating . The advantage to the attacker is the salvage of course plus chances the attacking units skill down plus the morale bonuses plus the rep bonuses.
I started an empire and after a while was saving for a nice medium mech. When I logged in after like 2 weeks, the empire was totally surrounded except where it joined my larger empire. True I could ask for a zone or two or buy a new zone far away, or have it take a zone from my larger empire, but thats too much bother and I hate splitting empires and thus splitting the defenders. I might as well land war the zone and get something back for my larger empire.

In my own opinion that it is not good to run a few empires at the same time when you just started. To delete your old empires all you have to do is to go to "empire" tap and unclaim all your people. I join the game three months ago, and it took me two weeks to learn it fully. Just make sure to delete old empires that your won't use any more to reduce the load on the servers, that's what I did on my second (current try).
Tip: Try to read all the help or faq before asking, and always ask when you can't help the help. There are always nice people around here to answer your questions.

I would also suggest paging through the backposts around here if you have questions. There are a bunch of standard questions that most everyone asks that are answered in the backposts (many of them in the technical questions section).
Shrug. Personally I started a couple empires up right away just to test things out a bit and they both more or less worked out pretty well...

Think of it this way. The longer an empire is running, the more cash it has accumulated.
