What do you folks think of using the Monitor hulls as freighters? Roughly doing the same job as drop ships but allowing for bigger loads to be carried and in some cases allowing for the dropships to be brought in from the jump point attached to the hull of a freighter...thus saving the dropships the cost of the fuel that they would burn on their runs into a system...
Would something like this be a good idea of for BT? Comments welcome, but if you disagree please give FULL reason why you feel this wouldn't work.

Hmm. Interesting question. In terms of cost, ISTR that thanks to AT2's cost increases for dropships, monitors can be competetive. The main problem, of course, is that they can't land. Airless moons, space stations, orbital transfer docks...these things can help. Also, nit: monitors can't carry dropships. Nit 2: Remember--you save on the dropships' fuel, but not the monitor's; and you lose more because you're hauling more non-cargo mass (the extra spaceships' hulls).

I am sure a work around can take care of the first NIT...:D
As for the second, that would be covered by the cost each drop ship pays to tag a ride with the freighter...thus once it reaches the space dock/station then the Drop ship would act as normal...over all it balances out I think.
