A couple of key points taken from the Updates list- Just to make sure people get this news.
Firstly...
A reminder to people to never EVER tell someone your password. All admins can get your password by simply having your login name, and so that is the only thing you should ever offer someone. If someone presses you for your password claiming to be an Admin, please notify help@neveron.com immediately. There are only 3* people who will ever legitimately ask for your login: Randy, Wayward Son and Chelly.

The use of logins has changed slightly over time, with the creation of primary and secondary logins, and special circumstances like DP Pools. Due to these changes, people will rightfully ask for your login only. Again be sure that you can trust this player and caution is still advised about who you actually give your login to.
It is that much more IMPORTANT that you never give out your passwords to these logins, especially your 'primary logins'. A regular changing of your password is also an excellent idea to keep others from guessing your passwords.
Another item to keep in mind is to be sure that you have your contact email [go to settings from the empire page to update your email] accurate. That is the one and only way you will ever get your password recovered from the Admins. Many an empire has been lost due to forgotten passwrods. DO NOT rely on your computer to save them. Write then down in a log book, and update that log every time you change your password.

And secondly, for all you new people:
Wayward Son will be holding a brief (1 hour) session on War Thursday at 2 pm Arizona time (MDST or 9 pm GMT) in the #Neveron_Help chat room. If you use the Chat link on the Comms page, simply enter chat and then type "/join #Neveron_help" (no quotes). We will start promptly at 2 (by my clock, which is slow) and the session will be geared towards newer players. Topcis will include how to attack, how to prepare and how to defend. Questions or problems with bugs or other off-topic items will not be discussed. If you have a bug please email Bugs@neveron.com or Help@neveron.com instead.

Did you have a strong password?
For example, NEVER EVER EVER use the same thing for the login and the password. Also, do not use your empire name for your password.
A strong password is something like A1$d. It has both Capitol letters, lower case letters, symbols, and numbers in it. the reason?
Well lets assume that you just use all lower case letters. That means that the number of possibilities in your password are 26^n where n is the number of letters in your password. Now, by simply adding in caps you raise that to 52^n. Much harder. Now, assuming you use everything from caps to symbols you have up to 94^n possibilities. Thus, something as simple as a four letter password (A1@b) has 78074896 possibilities while a password with all lowercase letters (abcd) only has 456976 possibilities. Thus, by simply adding in numbers and symbols you increase the possibilities by about 170 times in this situation. The more the letters the more the dramitic the effect.
Example:
one of my passwords has 15 characters. If it were in all lowercase letters there are 5.04EE20 possibilities. Sounds like alot, huh?
Now, by adding in symbols and caps and numbers 3.95EE29 possibilities. HUGE INCREASE. That is an increase of 78782977312 times!

Yes it has happened, but if the person who did it is caught they are usually punnished very badly.

i'd hope so i've had that emp as long as i've been playing nev for might only be 5-6 months but still is a lot of work to lose without a shot being fired
