Land War Plunder Explained

I started a thread in the "Technical Questions" area of this forum asking how the Plunder System (implemented 3/30/03) worked. The admin update states:
You now receive cash and research points for the buildings that are automatically destroyed when you conquer a zone. The amount is based upon how many people are currently staffing the building. This only applies to buildings that are auto-destroyed (10% chance for every building in a zone) NOT for buildings actually destroyed in combat. Commercials, Residentials and Research Facilities all give bonuses based on population, while TC's give a whopping 100 point boost.
From the replies I've received and my own experience, here is how it works:
Residentials: $1,000 per person staffing the auto-destroyed building. Commercials: TBD Research: 0.1 RP (distributed evenly to all technologies you are researching) per person staffing the auto-destroyed building. Thank you TheDeadlyShoe for providing this information. TC: 100 RP (distributed evenly to all technologies you are researching) per auto-destroyed building.
I will continue to edit this as more information becomes available.

In reply to:

That a LOT!!! thats what research buildings make in a nev-year!!!
Now it makes sence constantly building researches and conquering+destroying them with an outpost.
did anone say "abuse" here?
P.S. Shoe said this
I saw 0.01 RP mentioned

Thanks Staker for seeing my typo.
TheDeadlyShoe said Research Facilities give: .01 RP per job (value/nevyear incidentally) split amongst all your current researches.
Sorry for not being able to edit the previous post, this forum doesn't allow it.

I think what they mean is that the building is auto-destroyed if the zone is conquered, but it cannot be destroyed during the battle. In other words, you still shouldn't be able to do a midnight raid against someone's TC.

its $1k for resies per person and $4k per commercial. Research gives .01 per person split between your currently researched technologies. Tech centers do show on the war map and are auto-destroyable. Plunder only applies to auto-destroyed buildings (10% chance per building each time a zone changes hands).

Auto-Destroyable means there is a 10% chance it is destroyed when the zone changes hands.

Hehe. Yes you could I suppose trade a zone back and forth to get some fast RP, but this would be horendously expensive. It would be much more cost effective to simply invest in new facilities or hold on to the zone and reap the long term benefits. There are no technologies that you can simply blitz to that will by themselves give you any sort of advantage.

Trading a zone back and forth forRP would definitly not be worth it since all the money infested in the zone would slowly be auto-destroyed, and if you lose a tech center...

There is now, it was implemented recently. Ever since they enabled us to attack a zone with just a one time payment (for 3 RL days) and we can attack it again and again without addition fees (other than the costs of mobolizing your units) the amount of buildings auto destroyed is only calculated after all the raidings to prevent the city being rumbled down to the ground by every individual attack.

Experience mostly. It is something you have to get a feel for. More often than not, however, so if you are capturing something worthwhile (like medium sized citys) it will be worth your time.

You also have to take the morale increase you will receive if you win in LW into account. High morale improves your overall income, and LW is the best way to build it up.

At what size would a city be medium? or at least a good target? over a thousand?

Hello Toscotto,
Sizes are not really classified as small / medium / Large etc.
A city can be anything from 1 person up to 108000 thousand people in size. so anything in between you can make up your own sml/med/large limits.
Obviously a 20,000 population city is rather large for a level 5, as it is the majority of their level, but a 20,000 population city for a lvl 12 for arguments sake is only but a very small fraction of a city.
With the new building costs, particularly the cost of 150cf residentials the large sized cities are worth a hell of a lot more.
I Hope that helps

Thanks it does.
I gues it is all relative to your own empire and what a good "target" is for you.
