Re: Vehicles

This is probably the single worst move the admins have made so far. They tell us that they have the ability to see who owns which empires, and then they go and take away one of the features that made LW profitable. Why don't they do their damn job and leave these features alone? If they were doing their job, they could tell who was cheating and who wasn't, and they wouldn't have to do something like this.

Know what really steams me about this? Someone could attack my fully-stocked repair bay and capture it. I take it back 10 minutes later, and have to pay to restock it yet again. That is ridiculous. Or what about when I purchase a heavy vehicle on the market and it arrives when I am offline. After it arrives, but before I login to commission it, someone attacks that zone and captures it. Poof, there goes the vehicle. If I recapture the zone the next time I login, I will still have to pay to get another vehicle.

I agree, it is about time that something is done to stop cheaters. However, I believe that this is something that the admins should be doing, since they say they can tell who owns what empires, and the only thing we the players should know about what is going on is when we see notices that empires are getting fined/deleted. When they make a move like this, I start doubting that the admins really do have the ability to see who owns what empire, and if that is the case, the 5-empire limit is completely bogus.

I think it has to do with the time it takes to track the people doing this down, and the sheer amount of empires doing it.

Besides, if someone indeed took a zone where you stored something, it would be gone if you take it back anyway (it would have to be a very stupid pirate who does NOT send the booty home where its safe).

The change sucks for honest pirates, but it was probably necessary if they don't want to spend the next few months weeding out players (ab)using this feature...

Yea, it's probably escalated with people trying to get down to 5 empires(thinking, I probably won't get caught, why not?). I think maybe they should've just legaliased it for a few months, let the cheaters take advantage of it, but let us profitably get rid of our empires.

Why not just legalize it? If everyone only has 5 empires let them transfer vehicles between them. Not like you can start 100 empires and send money to your main with all of them on the first day like in the old days. I don't see this as a problem. So long as people only have 5 empires.

Anyway, I think that maybe pirates would find that the sacking bonus they added in might balance it out a little.

The bonus for building destruction is a poop compared to the value of captured vehicles...

As for legalizing it.... So you think a lvl10 empire leaving a regiment of uncommissioned Cockatrice in a zone for his new lvl1 empire to take is desireable?

I agree Tien.

The abuse was in allowing someone to create 100 empires and funnel all that money to a single empire.

There is also the problem of the large empires with nothing to do sending tanks to small empires that those smaller emps could never afford. But to deny the rightfull booty of conquest

I don't see a problem with it. So the empire hits lvl 7 within 24 hrs. So what? You can do that with DP to. If I attack it I'm dead either way because the lvl 10 will hire a merc. if all else fails. It doesn't effect the dymanics of the game. Just a pain in the butt. Again assuming everyone is limited to 5 empires.

Who? All I want to know is who... I want to pay them a visit. Making use of LW extensive comunication forum, allowing to voice my displeasure with their behavior.

I think the Admins should post who is cheating, on the updates screen, how they cheated; this way we can all voice our collective displeasure.

I agree about posting the names of the cheaters. I've always said they are actually encouraging cheating by protecting the cheaters identies. But they protect them though for the same reason they just don't delete them... $

I'd rather see them working on new features than spending all their time chasing down cheaters. If people would just play the game and stop trying to "get around" everything, the world would be a better place.

I don't agree at all. However, I also don't agree with their new method of deterring cheaters either. Since they claim to be able to tell that the person who owns lvl 10 empire is the same person who owns the lvl 1 empire, then they can punish the person accordingly. All they would have to do is put flags in each of the empires, and when an empire attacks another empire with an identical flag, it notifies them that someone is potentially cheating. They can then go and verify whether it is a simple land/infra transfer, or if vehicles/parts/etc. were transfered as well.

That isn't enough. I say that they also prevent any restrictions from being applied to the empires on the list for a certain time period (24 RL hours should be more than enough).

Re: Vehicles

They don't need to add any new flags. When an empire looses a zone with uncommissioned vehicles that empire looses an amount of morale equal to the loss of those vehicles as if they had been destroyed in combat. So if they set a log point when an empire looses X amount of morale, that logs zone location, and what caused the morale loss, that would do it.

Basicly what this new rule is, is that the admins have no clue how to really control this thing they have created. So they take wacks in the dark at trying to control it and we suffer the results. All the resent controls are just desperate attempts to control a thing that has gotten way out of their control. But until they get their act together it won't change, and the game will only get more restrictive and less fun.

Oh well maybe I'll have to go back to playing games offline. Or maybe I should go try MegaMek, oops did I just say a bad word?

Fiache.
