No, not directly.
Whilst dueling have another browser window open on the arenas page, you can then check the units status, you will see the ammo at 0 once the opponent has dumped.

Well, when a mech is hit a location roll of 2 is a chance for a critical hit . Unlike CBT these can occur anywhere so the first round of a mg thats hits you could crit an engine ... destroy a weapon or hit the ammo and cause the mech to go BOOM and the pilot with it .
A more common situation is when the location carrying ammo is about to lose its last bit of outer armor. When thats gone any hit to that location hits the internal armor and a roll is made to see if a critical hit is made , so when your armor is near gone most people dump the ammo in that location to reduce the chances of an explosion killing the mech and the pilot ..
Vehicles can also dump ammo, but since crews have a very short life due to the wide range of ways for vehicles to explode -- well it may not make a lot of difference ..

Whether it's a vehicle or mech, if you lose a weapon (say your AC10 gets destroyed) you should dump the ammo for that weapon. It's useless anyway, and one less way your crew / pilot can die.

Actually in a vehicle it doesnt matter whether you dump ammo or not. When the explosion crit is rolled, it explodes. Its either ammo, or if there is no ammo, its the powerplant.
Better keep the ammo in case you win... Won't have to reload

I dumped the ammo out of any machine guns on my mechs bit of a waste of time as the infantry runs away now anyway and not worth the risk on most of them

yea, the ammo crit now says "a tremendous explosion destroys the unit"
It usta say ammo explosion, but that looked weird when it happened to savvies and JED-LAS and stuff..

how do you know where your ammo is stored?
is it always in the same location as the weapon?

During a movement phase , press the Dump ammunition link and have a look. Each set of ammo will have a button to dump it and will tell you the ammos location.
The ammo can be in any location , obviously in vehicles its in the body but mechs can store it anywhere they like.
