DP Pools

This has been bugging me a bit lately, and I want to be aware of all my options before I DP for anything. Anyway, what exactly is a DP pool, how do they work, and how do you donate to them? I like to believe I'm slowly crawling my way up from uber-n00bitude...

DP-Pool is when you get more than one person (usualy 4-20 or so) to put in cash together, then reap the benefits of the "higher" amount of cash put in at once, including the "extra" that gets tossed in for larger amounts (see the Donations page in Nev for more info on extra's for larger donations) Your best bet for finding DP pools is to jump into iRC and ask around, there is usually one, or more, going, and if you get to know some of the nicer fella's there (they do exist, I swear), you can usually talk them into getting one started/joining one. Otherwise, ask your faction mates (if you are in one, if not, find one, fast) and see about getting one started through them.

Thanks, that clarifies a lot. I'm still level 0, so I'm not in a faction yet, but I'm gonna join one when I level up. BTW, any recommendations?

Genyosha, HoC, Ryoken, or Kizo. Most of the rest are pretty much targets for the afore mentioned.

That's it? I was hoping for some semi-major factions other than the obvious top four. I don't really like HoC...seems too much like the Microsoft of Neveron, and it doesn't look like they need any more minions...

There are other faction wich are good, but like Lung said there pretty much the targets of all other major factions.
Just shop around a little, and remembre being in a major faction can have it's perk.( A lot more people to save you if you get in trouble.  )

research. At level 1, take whatever you can get. Then once you know people, you can move out of your faction into one that better fits your needs and empire aims. Also research the defense philosophies of the factions. For example, if you're attacked and a member of Kizo, you won't get help as long as the fight is 1 v 1 since you're expected to be able to win those with all of the help you get already from the faction. In Ryuken, swarms often come to your defense. Of course nobody goes out of their way to defend a level 1-3 empire really, they just aren't worth the cost to defend from a larger empire.

Talk to Ratnic in chat about DP pool, think he runs one monthly. Also, keep in mind before you go DPing for the Moon, it can all be lost in a night, or ten minutes depending on your defenses. Be prepared mentally to lose those RL Dollars.
