Attacking my Neighbours

I've just attacked my neighbours. Sorry neighbours, nothing personal but it's the only way to get ahead at a speed that might keep you interested in the game when you first start. I hope you have another Empire that's going well as well. But anyway, it looks like he'll be keeping this Empire for himself because whenever I attack with a company only my 7 most pathetic units actually go into the arean, none of my opponents units are even in there and I can't claim the land for my own. I just have units sitting there doing nothing for hours then dissapearing, by this time I've got bored of looking at a blank screen so I just exit and go back to the rest of the Empire. Why is this happening, is it a glitch or an I doing something silly?

If not lal your units are going into battle then perhaps all the units which form a part of that compant aren't there. The easiest way to make sure that all units from a company move somewhere is to flag the destination zone then from the company page move them to it.
As for not seeing units there could be several reasons why, stealth towers could be present in the zone and since you talk about attacking at the start of the game to get ahead fast I highly doubt you are attacking with mechs, the only units with sensors that stand a chance of picking up stealth towers. However if you put your units on autopilot then close the battle window after aproximately half an hour of real time the units should enter automatic battle resolution mode which will kill stealth towers for you.
Also what are you attacking wtih? If you are using infantry it's entirely possible that as soon as you find some opposition (likely to be a mech) your infantry is routing immediately giving you no chance to take the zone.

I was attacking with infantry on the first wave and the with srm and mg jeeps and srm and lrm tanks. I don't actually get any messages telling me what's happened in the battle when I log into my empire which is what makes me think there's a problem here, usually if you get killed you get told about it I though...

Have you checked your security settings.
If you have trouble seeing units when your in the Battlescreen it could be security settings on your browser. If you click on the link that says " overview ".
I figure since your new to the game it might be the simple stuff.

Yeah, checked all my security settings, Activex is set to prompt so I can see the map properly, just not the opponents units

My guess is you just can't see them because your sensors aren't good enough, do they show up eventually when you get closer to you? What kind of units are you using?

If your using aol or what other internet browser other than Internet Explorer. Most times you wont be able to see anything on the screen ( i lost a Locust that way). But if u have been using internet explorer you've got a real problem on your hands.

I've sent one on a slimlar problem and all they do is tell you to make sure your activeX and trusted sights are set right. You cacn't even make the arena if those aren't set right!
