Beware of your limited fields of fire - a high speed and/or jumping quad is recommended, or one with long-ranged weapons.

www.mechground.com (go to the mech bay)
www.battletecharchive.net (go to the technical readout section)

Those don't separate quads from other mechs, but they're very complete TRs.

The Sirocco SRC-3C from TRO: 3060, what can i say it is an AT-AT with tons of guns pasted on it. Oh and it kinda has the devestating fire power going for it.
I find that 'pinpoint' accuracy during a bombing run increases proportionally with the amount of munitions used.

If you want an assault mech, I love the Barghest. There are a couple varients of it and both are pretty sweet.

Bargehest 2-T.
It's got the armor, it's fast for a 'mech it's size (5/8), and with an ER PPC and a UAC/20, it packs a helluva punch.

I agree, the tarantula is the perfect scout mech. Fast as lightning, decent armor/weapons for a fast scout, ability to go hull down behind lvl 1 hills and killing line of sight and then the ability to jump next turn, and loosing a leg doesn't really impede its ability to scout/flee!

This is just what I say, if your thinking of fielding a quad, don't. but if you realy want to feild one I say take a goliath that has artillary and a few back-ups.

Personally, I custom work my quads. Most normally, I like to use quads for support platforms... of course that means ranging into Tech 2-3 for them, but a 100 ton quad with paired Arrows and plenty of ammo is my primary quad of choice. Give my recon unit a couple of TAGs for lighting up targets and let the Arrows fall everywhere. Then again, people would call me crazy.

Barghest all the way! The Heavy Gauss variant is great too as quads are much more stable than two-legged 'mechs.
