Designed early on as a Heavy cruser, the Royal Navy took a step back and
redesigned the ship to its current design, that of a Heavy Battlecruiser.
Designed from the outset to operate in a Carrier Battlegroup or a Regular
Battlegroup, the Gryphon was given a diverse array of Capitail and Secondary
weapons to achieve this, along with it's 2g/3g thrust rating and compliment of
48 fighters and 6 dropships. But these capabilities came at a cost in the
form of cargo capacity, hence more often than not out of the 6 dropships 1 or
2 of the droprings are designated for cargo dropships for when the ship is
expected to undergo longer than normal deployments.
