I'm sorry I wasn't clear. I know full well how difficult to manage a level 11 empire can be. And that you need to give out the login to trusted people.
I meant he's an idiot for giving it out in the manner that he did.

Krait, do you think anyone in DEST or Gen would dump ammo on their faction leader? Maybe it's more or a Kizo thing...

I know there are very few people who I trust to do anything in my empire. And I don't care what faction you are a part of, you have to earn my trust, it is not freely given.
BTW, just because you have a Gen or DEST tag behind your name doesn't mean you can't betray your mates. Anyone can turn on you at any time for any reason. While members of factions that are long time friends are less likely to betray each other, that is not a garruantee. When dealing with online personalities, it becomes even less secure, as I can't see the person behind the keyboard. Lack of eye contact means I have no way to know if you are being sincere or not.
I'm not trying to be insulting, I'm just being a realist.

I am pretty sure that most factions with 25+ members (except for those that are REALLY old) are very likely to have a spy or two. And since the older Gen factions were reformed after the big sellout afaik, I wouldn't be too sure that there are no people in there that would do such a thing. Even in my DEST factions there are empires I don't really know and that could possibly be spies (at least from my paranoid point of view).
These days its pretty much impossible to effectively prevent getting spies if you want to give newbs a chance in your faction too (and if you want to get a decent research bonus hehe).

A healthy paranoia might keep you alive in circumstances as they are on neveron. But also, there are mechanisms how you can check out whether to trust or not somebody. I know for a fact, the Alliances/factions who accepted me in had thorough testing going on whether to trust me , or what kind of person I am generally. Maybe its a good Idea you hook up to the people in your Alliances you are already trusting and who know how to do these things, and ask them whom to trust or not.
Anyway: People who take the sheer fact of neveron being an online game and therefore many thing going on anonymus, or not traceable into reality, as an incentive to display all kinds of behaviour (many of them wouldn´t act like that in RL I guess), are only taking on another option it provides. It has been stated in another post in this thread: There are traitors, spies, you name it. And the people who run really large empires on neveron now have real good insight into how it might be to say run a large, international corp. Or a governement. The issues are the same there.

Honestly, I am of the opinion that the ability to remain anonymous on the internet only serves to enhance one's true personality...IE a jerk just becomes a bigger jerk.

But what about those who aren't jerks? It's intresting from a psychologist POV. I recon it would be a similar attitude taken online as it would be in a crowd environment where a certain amount of anonminity is percieved, but this isn't the time or place for such discussions.

well, why not whalefish, I'll discuss it with you. I think online personalities are essentially a mix of what a person is, and what they wish to be. People find it easier to talk tough when they don't have to back it up. I mean, if someone insults me online, they know I'm not going to drop by their house and ask what they meant by that. Although, that could be funny.

Whalefish, I honestly doubt that you can brake it down to a single effect on behaviours. And I really do not want to speculate about why others act the way they do. I can say from xperience, some people playing online games take their RL-problems out into the wired reality. Like, trying to be someone/big/powerfull online to compensate for a percieved pwoerlessness in RL....others just display their excellent skills and get strong/important through that...
I am just me, online or in RL. Online games to me just are a kind of virtual reality that I love to put me in to see whether I can be Me there, and what I achieve then...

glad to see it Esau. As far as I am concerned, this commitment is not one involving Nev politics, but us as people. I'd rather not be known as a person who was low ennough to sabotage others in real life, and in an online game. I am glad to see that I am far from alone, and that there are others who have the same values.

Good you brought it up (nevpolitics), I was thinking some time bfore openly signing it on the Forums, for I thought about possible reactions I might get. To make it clear, this is regarding me, my empires and my gamestyle. That means I will not do these things. I will also not encourage these things in players around me. I may as well argue against doing these things, should I get involved.
Esau: My blood is ok. It is the purest, most bonding way of signing such a treatment. Note how I made sure to let very little of my blood come out of my body.

I agree with you. People who are insecure/unconfident in RL will make up for it online by overcompensating. So those who act like jerks in RL will act like bigger jerks online or those who who want to be feel stronger will act more intimidatingly(sp) etc etc. I also think that those who more comfortable with who they are in RL are more likely to act much more like their real personalities online.
Mind you this is a bit of a sweeping generalisation but I'd like to do more of an indepth study into it.
I actually disscussed this with a friend who's writing his dissertation for psychology at the momment but we were a bit drunk so can't remember all that much of what we disscussed...

You're right people seem to make up for their personal lackings IRL while online, I've found myself doing it, I have been told by many people that I'm a much nicer guy IRL than I am online. It might have something to do with the fact that consequences for our actions online are rarely manifest in our Real lives. Thus causing many people to feel no need to maintain their personal level of integrity. I know that many people who live in our Neveron Community who seem to be the most dispicable people are in fact very decent people IRL.
While that doesn't excuse their actions in the least, we must understand that if you hate the player, you might not hate the player if you met them.
