I'm a little dubious of a police 'mech using an expensive XL engine, but I like the concept and the small touches, like the siren and lights.

Better, better. I'm still a bit amazed at the price, but that's mostly outside your control. I don't see anything really expensive on the mech. Anyway, that's more of a police mech for a wealthy, high-tech world than the XL version.

Interesting - came up with a bit of a riot-control 'Mech myself a few days ago. It uses the L3 rules for 10- and 15t 'Mechs, but I figured it would be acceptable, as a security 'Mech doesn't have to be quite 'Mech-sized.

Please excuse the lack of fluff, but the general idea was some form of riot-control design to be used by the CapCons on captured worlds, where guerilla strikes might be giving trouble.

That is expensive, You could subjectgate your subjects with a coolant truck or something (greasy!)
Anyways, I do like the concept, but its not really practical. What if you wanted to arrest somebody who surrendered? He would have to hand-cuff himself to the leg of the mech and hold on for dear life.
