Revisiting Mines

I'll just consider a mine as a sort of 'easter egg' that's out of reach, for now... but I do have some questions: Do these occasionally, randomly, "appear" out of no where? If I've claimed an amount of land and none has mines, is it possible that that they might appear in the future? At what point are mines created? If a player previously owned an area, but unclaimed it, then re-claimed it again, what's the chance it would be "newly created"? If I claim a new area, what's the chance it may have a mine - assuming that it was previously, at any point in the past, owned by another player?
Thanks guys!

Mines do not currently pop up, since they are also not disappearing.
It is quite possible you may find a mine randomly. A mine does not appear when you claim it, it will already be there, and will remain there until it expires (small chance per nevday).

the mine 'spawn' program is currently disabled
that same program that 'creates' mines, as 'kills' them
in the interest of trying to get some resources back into the game, the program was disabled
if you recall, on the main login page, there is also mention of getting 'free' mines
When a player joins chat, and 'registers' with the AfterNET servers that host Neverons chat, a player can get a mine
to date we have offered 3 free mines to any palyer that came asking for them
the first 2 rounds consisted of Basic Metals [BM] and the 3rd round offered a choice of either BM or Precious Metals [PM]
for the newest players, claiming the free mines is usually not advisable. simply wait until you have built your empire up a few levels and then move to the 'mainland'. At this point your empire can probably capitalize on running a single BM mine, and selling those resources on the market

OK, thanks SM:CM; I had registered, a year? ago... though the few times I've been able to get on chat, I see 10 names, and occasionally only 1 person would talk to me - seemed like everone else was AFK, or DND.
So, since I don't have much of an opportunity to get in chat, I gave up on it. I'll try again, some time...

#neveron usually has around 30 people in it currently, and it can take a while to respond - be patient.

Also, just to explain, when you claim land, you have to go to your land - mines tab, and click on "inactive mines" to see if you have any. there is no map indicator, nor is there any sort of pop up or message.
