Do you think Kamikaze will let you slide on the single small laser?

One is all Level 1 tech (Ghouile) and the other (Chien) is all Level 2 items for the most part.

One has LRMs to support the ACs while the other as short range weapons that are more then likely going to be a major draw back for this mech. Add in the minimum range of the UAC and you have just lost one weapon at close range.

Looks good except for the small laser, which is contrary to the weapon-triplet requirement. Might I suggest substituting CASE in order to reduce repair costs should the ammo be struck during testing? (not to mention keeping the test pilots safe!)

Other than that, everything's A-ok!

Well, Master Tech Hudson sure as hell didn`t give up.
And for the next JMInc challenge, he decided to put
forth a Challenger
The chassis of a Guillotine proved suitably sturdy,
and the weapon mounting easy. Six medium lasers as
backup weapons, and then for the ACs: A huge AC/20 in the left arm and a UAC/10 in the right arm. Unfortunately, this
heavy weapons loadout required a XL engine in order to
keep speed at acceptable levels.

Instead of shunning the autocannons and designing them around my mech, I designed my mech to "embrase" the autocannons and built my design around them.

Communications System: CommuTech Multi-Channel 10

The Earnest's design is made to close and pound on its
enemy's before they could react. It carrys a Ultra
Autocannon 2 so it can pin down and maintain damage
while it is closeing on its enemy. Its Ultra Autocannon 20 is
used to "beat" the enemy mech into submission before it
can respond. Three ER Small Lasers add to its deadliness
at close range and it carrys enough heat sinks to disipate
the heat distributed by the Ultra Autocannons while in
double fire mode.

Its all right, sir. The men in white coats will be here for you shortly. They'll put you in a nice, padded room. You'll be happy there. You'll have the entire JMInc. executive and design team for company.

As long as you take these 'Mechs in context, they aren't too bad. I mean, a Shadow Hawk seems a little strange, but put it in a ring with a Wolverine, a Blackjack, a Banshee, and a couple JagerMechs, and it's actually pretty good

And anyway...where's the challenge in designing simply "a good 'Mech"? Designing something reasonably effective within some rather bizarre restrictions...that goes beyond skill, that's coming close to...ART!!!!!!!
