BT=Battletech.
the game which neveron is based, the birthplace of battlemechs (sorta, it's kinda funny, FASA got sued WAAAAAY back by the creators of Robotech, becuase many mechs I.E the Maaruader, the warhammer, the stinger, wasp, and pheonix hawk, look quite a bit like robotech desighns lol) any refrences to CBT =classic battletech, as opposed to this new crap wizkids is trying to force on us, MW Dark age.

why? becuase. jesus told me to. and you wanna know something else that jesus told me? he said that everytime it rains, it's becuase god is crying over something u did. because god hates you.

BT stands for BattleTech which is the universe that Neveron is based off vaguely.

Man, some people don't know their BT history.

FASA was not sued by Robotech. FASA did not loose the lawsuit. FASA was brought to court by Harmony Gold b/c Harmony gold (a massive conglomerate) bought the rights to robotech USA. The original artist of the "Unseen" mechs sold his artwork to both robotech and battletech. FASA had fullrights to use the artwork. FASA decided to stop using the artwork to make the litigation go away. FASA still has rights to those drawings, they just don't use them b/c it isn't worth the headache and lawyer fees they would be forced to endure if they used them again. This is a case of one company having deeper pockets to force another company to ceede their way.

Hmm, is fred trolling by refusing to acknowledge bt?

The warrior could be usefull, ac/2 makes it able to barrage at range. Quite heavy in RP tho, 25t vtol move concept.

Perhaps Randy/WW/Co. will create some custom VTOLs with adequate amounts of armor for Neveron?

Or maybe just give us Hawk Moths? Mmmm... please?

Yellow Jackets.. I'd consider a DP or 3 for one of those. Or a lance, would scare the pants of anyone full.

VTOLs should be imune to IDF weapons. and they should be able to reach the idf towers very quickly. a few 2x range lrm towers will take them out.

The light gauss is the way to go. It's a nice, elegent weapon.
The regular is just a big *censored* cannon... bah.

Actually, I prefer AC/20's to GR. But as 'mechbuster surrogate, yellow jackets do.

BT is an old tabletop game back from times where we didn't have computers. Spreadsheets and DICE (yes the things with the dots) were used.

maybe try a google search for battletech? Hit number 1 is: FanPro's Official Classic BattleTech

might have something to do with BattleTech, not too tough to find, either.

would 1000 infantry really be more trouble to handle then say 200-300 vehicles? or 100 mechs? which is they're cost equivilent.

Yes. Easily. Vehicles and mechs die easily to PPCs and lasers. These weapons do almost no damage to infantry, and they're the only ones apart from flamers that don't require reloading, and since you're suggesting sniper inf, flamers would be useless. Plus, inf are a pain because they can abr you and beat almost anything by sheer numbers.

what's BT [Re: fredwhodead1]
      #114794 - 09/27/05 06:23 PM (139.174.246.98)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BattleTech
there's a good overview article about BT at Wikipedia.

ps.: there's a link to sarna.net from the articel. we got a very special forum here, if it's linked in wikipedia.

but 100-200 mechs?
infantry are slow, the flamer would be in range next turn anyway.

People don't defend zones with 100-200 mechs, they are offensive units. If you did, there would be a line of players a mile long wanting to get in on that kill fest, as opposed to if there's a zone full of infantry it's pretty tough to find a merc to help with them.

Re: what's BT [Re: Wraith]

many mechs means also a lot of salvage and chances to salvage a whole mech. if the number of pirate mech's is high their skill is lower then the skill of less mechs with same BV. 10 rhino's at skill 8 are less dangerous as a single one with the same bv.

it's a bit different with infantry, they're most dangerous if you lost your move (due to lag), and they get in range. if you're unlucky 14 inf platoons could get within range one of your mech, you have to expect about 6 hit's for skill 8 inf. with MG inf it's 60 damage.

on the other hand inf is rather hard to kill with ammoless weapons. (MB already mentioned it) an archer 2k got 32 lrm 15 rounds. no round kills more then one inf unit. so you can get only 32 infs, then you got to pull out the mech, send others or reload it. one bat inf has 48 inf units. if you've faced regimental strength inf in your empire, you'll learn that thei're the real (and only) horror of pirates.

for players a defence with infantry is not a good idea though. if a inf unit is destroyed the empire looses a lot of morale. while they're insignificient in combat in small numbers, they cost incredibly much maintenance.

I once attacked a zone that was defended by about 30 mechs, 2 scorps and a medium laser tower. Suffice to say that I got onto the most Bv killed in past 24hrs.

fred, as a long time player of BT (i started when i was 6) i command you in the name of all that is Mechtastic to go check it out.

and you know what guys? screw vtols, if we have to wait this long for em, lets get something really worthwile: LAMS

and since i know that fred won't be able to resist asking, a LAM is a Land/Air Mech, which, you guesssed it, looks like it's right out of Robotech. the three LAM desighns that come to mind atm are the stinger, wasp, and pheonix hawk.
