9 years IS alot of time for me. what i'm trying to say is that i've been playing since early childhood, and some of my most happy moments of childhood consist of me blowing the shit outta my older brother and dad in BT. and yeah, it's not that long, but you know someone is dedicated when they memorized the weapon range tables for BT before their multiplication tables lol.

my dad would never play in any game that involes weapons of any kind. and nobody i know and nobody who knows anyone i know plays this game so it would frankly be a waste of money to get it for me.

i'm not sure grenades would do to much to a battle mech or vehichle. granades are more anti personel devices. besides, you expect randy to go and figure out to code THAT in?

grenades arnt really anti inf devices. Some are made to take out tanks and helies.

ps. Ghost recon 2 is the best FPS i have ever played...yes better than halo but only on x box

Grenades against heli's? Well like any plane they're quite vulnerable and it could do something, problem is throwing then high enough.
Unless you talk about rifle grenades, or grenade launcher grenades.

yeah they aint heavy, not as heavy as rifles any way plus we are talking about the future they could have auto propell grenades, like in area 51(the game duh)

The game universe is post 2nd dark age-like. So a lot of knowledge of the ancients has been lost, and only recently recovering (something reneseance-like).

I feel so sad for you......go play HL2 (Half Life 2), and see the glory that it holds.....please....before you call Ghost Recon 2 the best FPS you have ever played again....go look and see....and then make sure you have Steam so you can see teh absolute GLORY that is Day of Defeat Source (part of HL2, but only available through the Steam download, and daaaaaaamn is it pretty).....and keep your eyes peeled, as TFC 2 Source is coming.....
And if you have played HL2 already, and still feel this way, you have no taste, and I [pity you.

i've started to play ghost recon 1 about half a year ago. it's nice, but a bit to arcade style. from what i read gr2 is even worse. more like halo then a tactical fps.
operation flashpoint still rulez. never seen so much high quality community made addons, with so much details and realism, in any other game.
Armed Assault, an advanced game - including the old opf, elements of VBS1 the military training program, and completely new stuff - will be released this autumn or winter. most of the community addons will be easily portable to ArmA
*sdoc throws a red herring to tbird.

BT = "BattleTech", an ancient tabletop wargame, once upon a time pretty popular amongst younger people, these days some of the younger people from the past have grown older, but they're still playing the game, well, at least from time to time.
BT = "BullyTech" (TM and Copyright: NeverSayNever), apparently an extremely popular style of gameplay amongst some groups of Nev players. Basically it's about joining the currently biggest team/faction of LW bullies and attacking smaller teams/factions while threatening the smaller teams/factions with massive gangbangs if they don't play by the rules set up and enforced by the biggest team of bullies.

i like ghost 2 cause you got a whole team, and its more realistic than half life 2. IN half life u can get shot like 10 times and still live. In Ghost 2 u got 2 shots, only 1 if to the head.

Nah, its Sausage, better tasting and more usefull. And as far as spam goes tbird, you got me beat by a long ways, TYVM.
And BF2 is a fun game, though I still prefer the Rag Doll models they added to HL2 (as well as DoD now), as it adds so much more to killing people. Nothing like launching a body through the air with a grenade after shooting them in the upper chest/head and watching it do a back flip.
Gives me warm fuzzys just thinking about it.
I dont play FPS games for realism, as even in GR2, its a pretty fine line between "Thats so much more realistic than that other game", and if I were going for a more "realistic" game, would have to go with the US army one thats been out for a bit, as it seems to handle that area (from my limited play with it) better than most games on the market right now. Besides, its a game. I am a bigger fan of "Oh....preeeeetty" than I am of "Wow, thats just like what would happen in real life"  . Give me visual stimulus any day over realism, and you will have me playing for quite some time.
