Just received the following error message while trying to find this moved post / poll (from "General Discussion"):

Known database problem while moving posts / polls / entire threads?

Apparently, some of the pointers go dead after a while - sorry for the confusion - ShadowMasterCM

Anyway, "46 total votes", approx. equivalent to ten percent (rounded down) of current daily player log-ins (quote: "Player Logins (past 24 hours): 451").

Reminder: The unofficial "AI pirates (on demand)?" poll is still open - and waiting for your vote as well!

NSN, I think it's fair to say that anyone who was going to vote has. The answer appears to be YES, but it would cause more lag than there is already and so shouldn't actually be implemented.

Sounds like a good idea to me.

Well, who knows exactly, mattbuck?

So far it looks like only 50 out of,

quote (taken from log-in page):
Quote:

"[...] thousands of players [...]"

voted so far.

Why discard all the votes which have not been used / expressed so far?

Why neglect any future votes from new players who just joined and who could decide to vote - or not to vote?

Lag? What lag are you talking about, mattbuck?

How could less than 500 players (on average) logging in per 24 hours cause any significant amount of lag?

But sarcasm, cynicism and such aside - how should "AI-pirates on demand" cause massive amounts of additonal lag?

If properly implemented "AI-pirates on demand" should only add a negligable amount of additional lag (on demand), additional lag (on demand) which gets created only if players want to have some innocent player vs. environment (PvE) fun and action.

Many other (online) games provide quite a lot of PvE content (tons of AI pirates / monsters / mobiles to kill for player entertainment, innocent fun and instant action), and - surprise -, it looks like many players tend to enjoy PvE - and maybe - just maybe -, that's one of the main reasons why these other games tend to attract and keep more players?

Apparently the only way to get some entertainment, some less 'innocent' fun and some (instant) action at Neveron is to go out and kill other player's hard work - and or to decimate / exterminate and or frustrate a whole bunch of Noobs on "Noob Cannibal Island" (TM).

Unfortunately if there is way too much, or even worse: exclusive, focus on player vs. player (PvP) content / combat only, the less innocent side effects (like player killing, griefing, etc.) of PvP tend to take over and start ruining the fun for at least one half of the playerbase - the half of the playerbase which loses way too often against veterans, hard core gamers, power gamers / munchkins, DP 'whores', Noob killers, etc. ...

Now go figure why this game's playerbase appears to be still shrinking ...

On the other hand some of the other admin-coded 'features', like rotting skill values and or skill multipliers, add to the general nev-wide lag too - while contributing little to no additional 'fun', action and such for the people still playing this game - but added lag does not seem to matter at all in this case ...

Well, for all your talk of no lag, the players seem to be complaining about it a lot.

NSN, this has been open for 7 months now and has received 50 votes, half of which were generated in the first three days, and 90% within two months. We are talking about 1 voter every 2 weeks since then. There is no one left to vote. People either don't read forums or just plain don't care.
