I always liked pirates. It gave me something to use my mechs on that didn't require too much of an effort moving in hunter batts and all the politics.

Plus it will give those who can't war on a regular basis or have time to deal with a long drawn out war can at least work on preventing their empire from suffering too much from skillups.

"29 total votes" so far?
Once again, we could really use some more feedback from the playerbase ...
BTW, I started this poll to help me determine if there really is sufficient demand for "AI pirates (on demand)" to justify pestering Wayward with a request for coding some "AI pirates (on demand)" feature.
Please keep the following in mind: the more demand for "AI pirates (on demand)" - indicated / expressed by many players voting with "Yes" -, the better our position for getting Wayward to listen to us ...
If you keep daily player log in stats in mind (approx. 600), then 29 votes total so far simply isn't enough.
So once again, more feedback / votes please! Thanks in advance!

NSN, this is a great idea. it really is.
I am not trying to be negative in any way, but really do you think that an admin that doesn't have enough time to get an update up often, show up regularly to chat, or fix things that are fundamental to the actual game play (maps that work without having to remove updates, FWAR smoothly, etc.) has enough time for this?
Pirates on demand are a really good idea, a great way for practice with actual results- salvage, skilldowns, etc- and would really have been a great addition- when there were 3-4 people answering tickets and two programmers were full time on the job. AFAIK- it is just WWS right now. please someone correct me if I am wrong.
WWS this would be a great oppourtunity to advise your still loyal playerbase what is going on.

to be honest why talk about anything or new ideas? it wont happen and its a waste of time. this is called being blunt and honest. the bottom line you have 1 guy running the show and he has a new child in his life now nev is the least of his worries. i wouldnt be to surprised if nevs up for sale soon? keep the hate mail for the double digits which im not? people in the past have offerd to help wws with evrything from coding to writing help files. bottom line he wants no help and dsnt give 2 shits about the players or the future of the game hes milking it untill the cow falls over dead. You haven't donated in 81 days of playing. Please consider supporting Neveron by donating i love being told this when i login wonder why its been 81 days wws? it was around 200ish days but i thought maybe if we get some pools going it will change something? then a bus hit me and i woke up. wws either get some help or sell neveron do something. i get tired of talking to myself its like talking to my dick i get no answer.

Quote:
not sure everyone reads the forums eh?
I got to admit only a fraction of Neveron's remaining playerbase visits the sarna forums - and it looks like an even smaller fraction of Neveron's remaining playerbase actively participates in discussions - or polls -, here at sarna.
Unfortunately it looks like many of the more talkative and or active people left the sarna forums - and or Neveron?
Simply look at Neveron's IRC activities, or the Nev-related roleplay section at sarna, nothing but a shadow of the past left of it at the moment.
Unfortunately this had to be expected due to a slowly shrinking playerbase (= less people and or less variety in general) - and an ever increasing and or almost exclusive focus on landwar - and or FWar -, which changed the composition/mix of the playerbase in the long run.
Basically it looks like the admin-encouraged/wanted ever increasing focus on landwar/FWar (admin-wanted unit number reduction and or infra reduction) kind of thoroughly trimmed out most of the 'fat' (= easy 'targets' / smaller factions, for example smaller infra 'farms', smaller (re)builders, smaller researchers, smaller traders / crafters / manufacturers, casual gamers in general, etc.), 'spice' (roleplayers, explorers, socializers, etc. all of them adding / contributing to the overall atmosphere and depth of a game in general) - and most of the enthusiasm of the newcomers as well -, e.g due to excessive NOOB hunting runs on "NOOB Cannibal Island" (NCI) and or the activities of low level uber LW empires in general.
Apparently pretty much all that is left at Neveron at the moment is some die hard hardcore warmongerers, some player killers, some disgruntled veterans, some oldtimers to stubborn to leave, some people with way too much time and money invested already - who can't leave easily -, and the ocassionally showing up newbie/s.
But what do you get if you trim out all the fat, sugar, spice, fun, etc. out of something? - Yeah, right, usually all that is left is some tasteless and boring diet stuff which almost nobody really wants to swallow ...
AI-pirates on demand could be a most wanted fat, sugary, spicy, tasty fun feature which could really help to spice up everyone's nev gaming diet, errr, sorry, gaming experience ...
BTW - fat, sugary, spicy, tasty fun stuff tends to sell much better than tasteless and or boring diet food ...

The unofficial "AI pirates (on demand)?" poll is still open - and waiting for your vote as well!
And it doesn't matter if you are a disgruntled Nev veteran - or an enthusiastic NOOB who just joined -, your vote counts!
No clue what this little unofficial poll is all about?
Quote:
Pirates on demand, yet another fun feature us Nev gamers have been asking - and or waiting - for, for quite some time ...
Where is our "Player vs. Environment" (PvE)/(Player vs. Non Player Characters) fun stuff for Neveron?
IMVH - and rarely ever listened to - opinion, we could really use some kind of innocent PvE fun and action too - now!
IMVHO we've already had our maximum overdose of "Player vs. Player" (PvP)( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Player_versus_Player ) action, "Player Killing", etc., for example via consecutive FWar after FWar, excessive NOOB hunting, or raid after raid.
It's about time for some PvE fun and action at Neveron.
pirates on demand = less demand for NOOB killing/bashing/hunting = less frustrated NOOBs, more NOOBs stay = slowly growing playerbase
Stop beating up NOOBs, start beating up computer controlled AI pirates on demand (for a small fee, to help prevent abuse (excessive rep and morale farming), it's a Nevcash sink - and it could help to slow down inflation too, and it could provide some rare Mech spare parts salvage too) instead.
It's way too easy to frustrate a human player, but you simply cannot frustrate an AI opponent/pirate.
No more NOOB hunting for sports and such, simply hunt down some AI pirates if you are in dire need of some action ...
Dear unknown new player (NOOB)!
You could really use a little break from getting hunted down for sports, rep and moral on "NOOB Cannibal Island (NCI)" (TM) by some NOOB killer empire/s of 'equal' level?
Well, the introduction of "AI pirates (on demand)" (= PvE elements / NPC landwar targets) could help to lessen your burden.
Don't you agree?
What are you waiting for? - Vote now!

NSN, I think it's fair to say that anyone who was going to vote has.
Well, who knows exactly, mattbuck?
So far it looks like only 50 out of,
quote (taken from log-in page):
Quote:
"[...] thousands of players [...]"
voted so far.
Why discard all the votes which have not been used / expressed so far?
Why neglect any future votes from new players who just joined and who could decide to vote - or not to vote?

The answer appears to be YES, but it would cause more lag than there is already and so shouldn't actually be implemented.
Lag? What lag are you talking about, mattbuck?
How could less than 500 players (on average) logging in per 24 hours cause any significant amount of lag?
But sarcasm, cynicism and such aside - how should "AI-pirates on demand" cause massive amounts of additonal lag?
If properly implemented "AI-pirates on demand" should only add a negligable amount of additional lag (on demand), additional lag (on demand) which gets created only if players want to have some innocent player vs. environment (PvE) fun and action.
Many other (online) games provide quite a lot of PvE content (tons of AI pirates / monsters / mobiles to kill for player entertainment, innocent fun and instant action), and - surprise -, it looks like many players tend to enjoy PvE - and maybe - just maybe -, that's one of the main reasons why these other games tend to attract and keep more players?
Apparently the only way to get some entertainment, some less 'innocent' fun and some (instant) action at Neveron is to go out and kill other player's hard work - and or to decimate / exterminate and or frustrate a whole bunch of Noobs on "Noob Cannibal Island" (TM).
Unfortunately if there is way too much, or even worse: exclusive, focus on player vs. player (PvP) content / combat only, the less innocent side effects (like player killing, griefing, etc.) of PvP tend to take over and start ruining the fun for at least one half of the playerbase - the half of the playerbase which loses way too often against veterans, hard core gamers, power gamers / munchkins, DP 'whores', Noob killers, etc. ...
Now go figure why this game's playerbase appears to be still shrinking ...
On the other hand some of the other admin-coded 'features', like rotting skill values and or skill multipliers, add to the general nev-wide lag too - while contributing little to no additional 'fun', action and such for the people still playing this game - but added lag does not seem to matter at all in this case ...

Well, for all your talk of no lag, the players seem to be complaining about it a lot.
NSN, this has been open for 7 months now and has received 50 votes, half of which were generated in the first three days, and 90% within two months. We are talking about 1 voter every 2 weeks since then. There is no one left to vote. People either don't read forums or just plain don't care.
-------------------- Haha, you people think admins still look at these forums.
