Yes, Very good offers have been made in the past. Negotiations were started then dropped with no explaination. A complete failure to communicate on the part of the present owners killed all prospects of getting nev in responsible hands. Since that time Nev has become more and more unstable. To my knowledge no more offers have or will be made. Due to this lack of communication and frequent bugs and down-time donations have and will continue to plummet. Without intervention I think nev will not last much longer. A shame really.

Purchasing neveron is a very poor commercial decision:
Its assets, i.e its servers are over 5 years old now and are ready to die
Its codebase stinks, and only works in Internet explorer 6, which is flawed beyond belief.
It has burned through the community, pretty much every battletech player has been and gone.
Its got nothing unique, there are other and better games out there in the same genre
Imagine someone else trying to understand all the programming thats been done and needed to be fixed? ZOMG.
Randy had several offers to buy it, but they wanted several million dollars for it. just shows how greedy they were/are.
I've got two words for potential investors
START AGAIN.
or buy another product, there is stacks of great games out there that need investors.

WWS (and Randy before him) refuse to let anyone help. They wouldn't even give the PA's access to the ticket system (tickets have to be manually forwarded to them from WWS). There are MANY players that have generously offered their time and technical skills over the years.

I'm an ex player but I think I can sum up people's basic reasons for you:
1. They've made good friends over the years that they don't want to abandon.
2. They play in the past, using the good times as justification to continue playing in the bad times. (I was guilty of this when I was still playing)
3. They have a lot of real money invested in their empires and can't swallow the bitter pill of simply walking away. Some have invested thousands of dollars in Neveron over the years.
I don't think many of the people that use sarna forums still donate. Its new players that come in, think it looks cool, drop a couple bucks, then end up leaving a couple days or weeks later. Rinse and repeat.
The old timers simply play out of habit, and because they have established themselves in the community. Both of those are very hard to break away from, at least it was for me (though I eventually did, except to troll the forums).
I know you have just found Neveron, but you have to understand that this game has been around since 2001 and there were many good times.

I think this is the reason nev is still running, there are players who have full factions but are the only active BPers in it. these guys have thrown lotsa molla into it. the anwser is not simple but open.........Sue WWS/Randy for custody, then divorce nev from them!!!!!!

I personaly whould love to see the game sold to somebody that'll pump some life back into her, I have been a Nev player since the early days of the game. I have ruled over an Alliance that was the Only REAL Enemy HoC could never bully. Yet here i am almost totaly unable to play now because the game dosent work correctly in IE 7 and IE 6 wont work correctly on my computer. Will i quit because of that no, but it sure is a real pain in the arse.

Dont be that bad...
nev in deed is the best strategy game i have ever played, and so i played it for 5 full years.
And nev do have some unique features, like having in the same game a full economic game, a player made maket, a full strategical game, a full tactical game and a real political game in one.
All adorned by research stuff, arenas and the like.
the problem with nev is that is abandoned but im sure, (and im sure most of you think that too) that with A LOT of fixing most old nev players would come back to the game.
It will require work (no doubt of that) maybe it requires a reset but fix the stuff that its wrong and nev will be the great game it used to be.
If that happens with the close comunity it used to have the new would spread in no time and most players would get notice of it.
Im sure it can be done, although its true that depending on randy and wayward codding maybe it worths to start it form zero.

I wish someone could buy nev. The admins are hated by the players, and for good reason. Randy, the original admin, stated publicly that he didn't give a crap about old players as long as new ones came along. That is bad because you need the old players to provide help and support for new players as there is no help or support from the admins.
As was mentioned earlier, the servers are ancient. The coding is second to every single bit of code ever written by anyone on the entire planet. There is no documentation, the admins themselves, who haven't been active for 2 years, never knew what they were doing when they did it, and never had a plan.
As was mentioned, almost every cbt fan has been through Nev. Nev was a great game. It was brilliant in fact. Back in the day. But the admins were greedy (to wit they put donation money on the craps tables in Vegas) and didn't give a shit about the players. They would announce whole new systems with no warning, which required empires to be completely rebuilt. They turned a blind eye to cheating and abusive behaviour, because the people doing it were donators. And most importantly, they never fixed a problem. Instead they would slap another layer of lousy code on top.
Here's an example.
Donators wanted an advantage, so they coded in uber-mechs, such as the stone rhino, which use clan tech. This allows them to sit out of range of any standard mech.
To combat this, towers were introduced. They outranged rhinos.
Towers were too powerful, they could kill anything before it got close enough to hit. So they added IDF.
IDF was too powerful, and people would go into battle armed with just IDF and kill everything because the standard IDF unit had an LRM for "close" range backup and had a fuckton of armour. The IDFs it carried could easily crit kill towers or enemy vehicles before they had a chance to get close, and the massed LRMs would kill any mech.
Now, IDF is no fun for either side. The way to solve this problem would simply to have removed stone rhinos and the like, but instead they add crappy system after crappy system. Then when they start running low on funds they decide to make people war more so they need to donate more to rebuild. But rebuilding is a long long process, and often people quit rather than keep going. They made wars more protracted and costly, removed the ability to come to a diplomatic solution, and generally removed any player interaction. Players became bitter and less likely to help anyone. They split into two camps, and if you weren't in either then you would be destroyed because neither side could attack the other, as while huge alliances they didn't have enough players anymore to support a full blown war with one lvl13, let alone an entire alliance. It became the norm to do anything to win, because otherwise you lose RL $.
In short, if you want to buy the game, don't expect an answer, the admins have been claiming that "this time I'm coming back and things will be better" for 2 years now, and it's always been lies. They won't respond to us at all. And frankly, you'd be better off creating a new game. It would be easier to recode it from the ground up than to fix all the shit.
(Oh yeah, nothing was ever removed properly, just disabled.... that leads to more bugs)

Sometime, someplace, someone will code a game that builds on the fundamentals we loved from old school Nev. Who knows when, maybe in 10 years, but I still believe it will happen. And when it does happen, that person will be wealthy.

It is the same basic gameplay (unfortunately not battletech, but still fun), much easier to start an empire and has an largely active player base

Perhaps one of the most stupid things a person could possibly do.
why would you buy it? what does it offer? what does it have?
Whatever your purchase price your going to pay just invest it in making a game from scratch, your buying old hardware, code that works in a browser nobody uses anymore, no documentation, god knows whats left of the playerbase etc etc, the list of issues is bigger than randy's ego.
I'd love to see your detailed business plan to turn it around, LOL
The decision to buy the game would put you in the same catagory as Randy.

EvcRos, Im not really sure who you are, but your statements are usually half assed at best.
Altho the game has been suffering from some of its internal programs crashing over the last month or so, Neveron as a whole has been far more stable since Wayward_Son took control several years ago. I remeber this game used to crash weekly, or for days, and thats when we had a STAFF of admins.

I am all about fairness and equality to express ones views...blah blah blah. I have to say tho, it would be nice if just once you had an intelligent comment to add to a topic. Just a thought...
As for the various issues with Internet explorer, Im not sure what sort of trouble people are having. I have always used IE. I have never used Firefox or any other browsers. I have seen no major issue or changes from one version to the next when playing Neveron, aside from the updates that started in late IE6 / release IE7, that killed the maps due to some code that microsoft discontinued use of. Other than that [which did suck] Neveron still plays the same old buggy way it always has.
A new owner could attempt to address some of those buggy issues, but until ownership changes hands, or a new admin STAFF is put in place, I would not expect any major changes
