Oh Cray, Damian knows I love him

If I really want to direct insult him, I'd PM him in chat :P

But from now on, I will refrain from using the word Pussy in reference to a potentially perceived cowardace directed toward an individual person.

Back on topic, I'd say with the ability to attack walls directly the HD only cities will be no more, and thus the current requirement to HD to get to most cities is removed, thus the current damage is not such a big issue.

Why are we still talking on this? Kato already knocked this issue out of the park with his original post.

Do you mean park?

If you do, I happen to agree.

Sorry for the off topic post, but I felt I needed to address damians post. I think I will just ignore him from now on

Whether speaking of CBT or Neveron, occurances such as damage from HD are, or should be based on pilot skill and chance. When pilot skills are extremely good, then the chances of a disasterous result should decrease.

I have hot dropped many many times. There is little or no rhyme or reason to when one takes or does not take damage.

Katrar's post outlining the CBT method of calculating damage is right on, and should be the basis of any rational system in Neveron as well.

Another possible future addition could be actual dropship landings. Now that would add an entirely new dimension to the game.

I think what bothers me more than the damage or destruction side of things is the scatter. I can understand that HDing is dangerous, no arguement there. However, when you drop a lance into a zone, it is a significant problem when your mechs are scattered far apart. Perhaps this is merely my own bad luck.

Quote:

KJI, you say dp for buildings, ect ect is good, but dp used for mechs is bad, heres a clue for ya
90% of larger empires only use dp to double zones, add buildables, buildings ect, ect
not buy more and more dp only mechs, taking out dp only mechs, you loose the mad4a which is the staple mech in most armies keep that in mind

this part is to TRK KJI and Vindication

you cry and whine for balance, but from the sounds of your guys experiences, you were working solo, and didnt have a good crew of guys to watch you stuff while you are away
being hit at 3am your time isnt unfair, its strategy

being hit at 3am is cripling for 70% of neveron, or more, and there are alot of factions that have little to no presence at that time of night. hence the "Strategy" of being a pansy. i've never been good at war, but i always had empires that where defendable provided there was a bper or 2, and i wouldn't initiate a fight when i chose to do so after 10pm, weather it was tuesday or saturday night, even though i might lose, i'd much rather lose knowing my enemy had a chance, instead, there is this "2x cf them before they wake up" mentality among people like you with your strategy, and that runs off players, whats the point in a game where if you go to bed you're screwed?

as for the mech comment, dping for mechs isn't bad, its the dp mechs thats bad. losing to a mech like a g'hopper isnt bad, atleast you had a fighting chance, but when that nem or rhino drops on you and your dead w/o ever getting into range, thats just stupid.

Yes, some of the big DP mechs are nuts. Some are ok though, maybe with a few slight mods.

Mad-4a vs imp? the winner depends on terrain much of the time

And whether or not you can hit a 4

There are ways to trap long range mechs. On a large map it can take time. Also, cutting off an enemies escape is critical.

Not saying it is easy or works all the time, but it is possible. And yes, even with losing initative all the time, another of my abilities

hehe, give TRK and 4 gun mech and he'll hit more often than with a 1 gun mech.

RNG loves him and hates him :P

actually, will we call it SNG instead. It wont be Randys Number Generator anymore but will be Shadows

sorry KJI, but in any real war these days, on a lvl 6+ its really hard to get to cf2 in less than a couple days, i would call that a fair shot

not to mention the fact that based on different time zones, and the fact we have active players in England, Germany, Canada, US to name a few, the chance of you hitting when you are ready and the person not being on at the time is atleast id say 30 -40%, plus the fact that peopl choose not to check each day to see if attacked

again, i might be ready at say 8pm a decent time in my time zone, my target is from england or germany, am i supposed to wait for them to show up to hit that button and go to work?

which i would like to note can be a complete opposite time schedule of quite a few american players
