skill downs/ups

I had a mech in a duel. at the time it lost, it had a skill of 3/1. after the duel, it went to 4/3. unit is not fatigued at this time. any ideas? i thoguh skills were only supposed to change by one. SHould I submit a help ticket? or give it a little bit longer to watch for any changes.

Sounds like your guy lost a maintenance skill at around the same time it lost the duel.

wouldn't that effect both gunnery and piloting? or just one of the active skills? and don't maintance skill penalties occur with inactivity? I am still a bit confused on how all that works.

Maint. skillups (I am always confused on that convention by skillup I mean your number gets larger i.e. worse) just happen every so often.. and it is a random skill that is effected. I believe it works something like this.

A random two digit number 00-99 is generated along with a random skill category. Every soldier whose ID terminating two digits matches the random number skillsup in the random skill category (provided they had skill better than 8). So for example todays luck number is 43.. and category is.. TaDa Vehicle gunnery. every soldier that terminates in 43 as the ID losses one skill in Veh Gunnery provided they have at least a 7.

that is pretty close.. so your unit coulda got tagged with the skillup shortly after the duel ended.

aw man. that's stinky. I understand that is jsut a part of how the game works. doesn't mean that I have to like it when my pilot loses a duel and instead of skilling back up one, he jumps up tow right after the duel. musta hit at the exact same time as I lost the duel, then. is there any way to deter said skill loss? I have a very high maintanance set, the pilot has skill multi's, and I was active in the last FWar(which my faction won). Sorry for whining about it. Just kinda frustrating when I come out of a duel on the l osing end with my 1 gun pilot who then suddenly jumps to 3 gun instead of just 2. Guess that's the way the arena crumbles sometimes. I am still gonna keep playing and dueling.

Skill multi's + VH maint => should go back down fast enough.

sweet. was my first 1gun mech pilot since I was last active in Nev almost a year ago. hated to see him lose it. with multis and time, I may yet rule the arenas!!!!

for skilling back down, the multi should effectively double compared to before. Dunno if it goes above the almight 30 that way...
