Poorly spent DP

I'm trying to get to good use of DP by avoiding bad use. What was your worst use of DP? In my case it was selling it when I only had low level empires, and FL transfers were problematical.

Yeah, I've done that a few times. $10M is peanuts, and foolish. Sometimes its the only quick option though.

or buy an imp and resale back, around 40mil each dp instead of the 10mil. but dont know if this would be against the rules our not

I reckon the admins should re think the DP to Nev cash conversation rate, Low Level empires dont get a fair deal working through the vendors, I picture this would cause alot of ppl to look for exploits like DE mentioned.

I think there should be a dp market, where you can sell/buy DP and set the price. If you sell DP of more value than your cap, it gets held back, then fills your cap each time it empties until you have recieved all the money from the sales.

DP'd for a light mech to defend a lvl 1 emp on noob island. Just because I had some stoopid attachment to that empire.
I think I ended up giving that one away too.

The very first time I got DP, I DPed for a Mongoose, Commando and a Vulcan.
Mind you, the Mongoose and Commando are still alive.

IMHO spending any dp on mechs during your first six months is insane. It takes that long just to figure the basics out. =)
I think for a new player, donating a little here and there while you can and simply sitting on the DP is the best option. Then, later, when you feel you have a better understanding of what makes the game tic, you spend more wisely.
Of course, I say that knowing full well how hard it is to "sit on" DP.

Donating before your empire is level 3 is not sane. . . Even then it should be for mechs and/or multis, though now that multis degrade, I'm not even sure about that. . .

Had heard Highlanders were good DP mechs and was at lvl 5, wanted to start LWing... so I donated for a Highlander, but got cheap and so got the 733 one. Ooops.

My favorite use of DP was for Multies. But they've killed that thought, like Tigre said.
DP'd for mechs. But what good is a 100 ton mech with a magnet on it's head? Last's around 4 rounds of play when they have city art hitting you in the head a the 3 out of 4 riposte that fire 3 hit you in the head. Bye bye 100 ton dp'd mech.
Then I tried DP'ing for TC's.
Lets see? Had a zone with some badass towers that liked to kill mechs while I was sleeping. Was fun! DP'd multies for the gunners. So, basically a bunch of 2 gun towers. Now they're all retards because of afore mentioned degradeing multies enhancement to the game.
Then making towers maintenance comparable to mechs.
Anyway, a couple of tanks attack. I kill them in my sleep. Now because of the new... your buildings now fall apart because 3 tanks attacked the zone... game improvement! Your TC's have been ripped in half, this will cost 100's of millions to repair each building. But wait! Attacked 2 days later by an awsome amount of 3 tanks! Sense the TC wasn't rebuilt yet. It has been destroyed!
New improved game play takes affect for lvl 5's and up. Ooops game screw's up! You were lvl 4 and was attacked anyway?!?!??? Lost the zone from admin game F up!
Over 3 Months later still nothing done about it!
I've DP'd for other stuff here and there. Like 150cf buildings etc. That was trying to adjust to some new game change. Then a month later another game change kind of screwed up where I was going with fixing the last game change.
Looked around at other DP ideas. But figured as soon as I'd do that one. A month later it would be screwed, because of yet another game change.
Needless to say, I can't find anything I think is a good use for DP.
