Scheduled server downtime (e.g. for maintenance), or ...

... ShadowMaster 'on strike' (Subtle demonstration of admin power?)?
Maybe instead of talking / writing about 'impeachment' some people should start thinking about 'appeasement' instead?
What will it take to get Neveron back online?
A simple re-boot?
New hardware (e.g. a new battery back-up system)?
Increased worshipping and or donations / 'tributes' to the disgruntled mighty NevGod?
The sacrificing of virgins?
Have a nice day / night.

it took a simple 15 minutes once I got to the servers to reboot the damn ISP modem and router. Occasionally when the ISP crashes, it takes a physical reboot to clear the modem and router. That was the case today.
However, all the usual 'backup' people I use when I'm not able to access the servers myself where otherwise unavailable, so we had to wait until I got home from work.
I do try to post updates to the Neveron twitter and facebook pages via texting once I'm alerted the web site is offline. I have a service monitor the web site once per hour, and once its unresponsive, I get a text alert. So it apparently went down just after 2PM and at 3:30PM I got an alert. At that point I made some phone calls to players to confirm if it was actually offline or was it just a short hic-up with the ISP. By 4PM I had confirmed it was indeed offline.
At that point I sent a text message / update to the twitter/ facebook pages stating that I knew it would be offline at least until 6:30PM. It actually remained offline until 3AM [just over 12h later] until I got home, rebooted the modem and router, and everything came back online. So the actual servers never went offline, just the connection to the outside world did.
As for NSN suggestions...
battery back up system would be nice, but that requires significant funding
and they dont have to be virgins ;O)
/me bans KJI for saying 'virgins'

yes
'enterprise' class UPS system needed for the current servers is in the $2K range
I'd call that 'significant'

You could get 4 business class 900w 1500va for that much. That would keep 4 top end gaming rigs running full throttle for up to an hour. You don't need that. lol
Be aware that with the label "enterprise" comes a significant price increase, because hey, as a business it is assumed you can afford it. What's inside the box is pretty much no different than what you get in a high quality home ups. There's only two technologies at work, there's no extra science behind enterprise class.
Just saying, when you are a small budget small business, sometimes business class is the wrong answer.

When ever I speak of Neveron enterprise equipment, I'm also refering to 'business' and/ or 'commercial' hardware. The point being it is NOT the standard or higher end 'retail' or 'residential' product usually found in the local electronics store.
Depending on the manufacturer, as well as the specific product, some enterprise hardware is NOT 'pretty much no different' than the average 'reatail' hardware. Some hardware is actually built using higher quality materials and designs, for example
Warrenty and Customer Support options are another 'feature' that is usually better with Enterprise vs Retail. That may not seem to be of any value to an experienced IT guy, but lets not forget there is no one that fits that description currently employed at Neveron.
All of this of course translates into some items having higher pricing. It is not all simply over priced becuase they can get away with it. One might say 'You get what you pay for'.
While I appreciate your effort in offering advice, Im curious what you think the power supplies are for the current servers. How many servers do you think are in the Neveron LAN?
What exactly is your definition of a 'top end gaming rig'? How did you calculate the run time stats for the 'full throttle for up to an hour'?
For example, a single 900W draw is estimated to last less than 30 minutes on a 2200VA UPS...
Even a 1200 Watt / 1500 VA UPS with an additional 48V External Battery Pack will only supply 42m run time for a total draw of 900W, and that combo UPS package is nearly $1400.
One further thought...since adding 'extra time' to a decent UPS is usually at a minimal additional cost, it made sense to design a system that could run a minimum of an hour. Since the LAN is NOT currently in a hosted facility with redundant systems, an hours worth of back up power might come in handy to run the LAN during short term power outages.
As with everything I've done involving Neveron...I do quite a bit of research so I can make decisions based on facts, rather then 'shop talk'.
