Level 1 tech Timberwolf

Ok, here is what I was able to squeeze out:
Timberwolf - M1
75 tons 4/6/0 movement Heat Sinks: 18 Max Heat: 37 Armor: 216 points (13.5 tons)
Head - 9 armor Life Support Sensors Cockpit
Right Arm - 22 armor 1 Large Laser 1 Medium Laser Shoulder, Upper Arm, Lower Arm
Left Arm - 22 armor 1 Large Laser 1 Medium Laser Shoulder, Upper Arm, Lower Arm
Right Torso - 25/5 armor LRM 5 Ammo LRM 5 Medium Laser Heat Sinks x3
Left Torso - 25/5 armor LRM 10 Ammo LRM 10 x2 Medium Laser Heat Sinks x 3
Center Torso - 35/8 armor Engine Gyro
Right/Left Legs - 30 armor Hip Upper Leg Lower Leg Foot
-----------
I always liked the Timberwolf and wondered what earlier modles of it could have looked like. This is basically what I came up with. Since it is made with level 1 tech something ended up having to give, so I downsized the engine due to the lack of XL engines, and also reduced its missle racks to LRM5's. Its arms both mount the LL and ML combo common to Timberwolves, and there are 3 more ML mounted on the various torso sections. I gave it enough heat sinking capability to fire either all of its medium lasers or both of its Large Lasers without encountering heat problems, but if you alpha strike you are going to be slowed way down.
I am most unhappy with the missle racks being reduced to LRM5's as this greately reduces its long range punch. I am thinking of having both LRM's share a single ton of ammo as 24 shots is a bit much for each one, and if I were to do so I could add in a MG as well as a half ton of ammo to bring it a little closer in line with a normal Timberwolf.

eep. Yes, both of those should be LRM5's. Sorry. I orriginally had just 1 LRM launcher and changed it over. If you look at the actual text it says there that the LRM launchers had been downgraded to LRM5's, I had just accidently skipped over doing it for one of the torsos.

Most omis I know of don't have a direct (i.e. only has one) ancestor, they usually seem to combine at least ideas from two or more mechs or are completely off the wall. So, if we are going to look at it from a direct decendant view, I felt it prudent to take a look at the IICs vs their predecessors.
For this, I examined both the Warhammer, Maurauder, and thier respective IIC variants.
Both were increased in weight by 10 tons, one had less armor, both had thier weapons upgraded from std to pulse or from LLas to PPC. Both had the same movement speed as thier previous model. There were a few other changes, but I accidently left my notes at home, so I will wait until tomorrow until I post in more detail.
The one glaring difference between the Timberwolf and a IIC, is it's heavy use of omni tech. It has furro-fibrus, endo-steel, an XL, and double heat sinks. That is using quite a bit of weight saving equipment that LVL1 has no access to. So, to have enough weight to have at least a halfway decent facsimile, I had to reduce the the engine movement from 5/8 to 4/6. In most other places I tried to remain true to the std/IIC formula.
This is what I could work out from memory. (again, no notes, so forgive if I can't list exact details)
Timberwolf ver 0.5
65 tons
4/6 movement
16 heat sinks
2 LLas (4-6 MLas might be more in line with the std/IIC relationship, but didn't seem appropriate)
2 LRM10 (1.0 tons ammo) (if I remember correctly)
1MG (0.5 tons ammo)
10 tons armor (same layout as Nova)

Alright. Here's my attempt. The only weapon "missing" is the CT Machine gun, other then that, the rest are there, 'cept for them being downgraded. I used two LRM-5's as LRM-10's are useless.
Movement:4/6/0 (300 Rating Engine) Armor:192 Points Heat Sinks:16
Head:9 Armor Sensors Cockpit Life Support
Center Torso:34/7 Armor (Front/Back) Engine Gyro
Left Torso:22/5 Armor (Front/Back) Medium Laser LRM-5 (x2) Ammo LRM-5 Small Laser Heat Sink (x2)
Right Torso:22/5 Armor (Front/Back) Machine Gun LRM-5 (x2) Ammo LRM-5 Ammo MG (Half-Ton) Heat Sink (x2)
Left Arm:19 Armor Shoulder Upper Arm Lower Arm Large Laser Medium Laser
Right Arm:19 Armor Shoulder Upper Arm Lower Arm Large Laser Medium Laser
Left Leg:25 Armor Hip Upper Leg Lower Leg Foot
Right Leg:25 Armor Hip Upper Leg Lower Leg Foot

Not bad, Not bad. The LRM ammo is a little low though. Might want to add half a ton or a tons (not restricted to full ton in Nev) from the armor. The heat balance is nice with combos of
LL/4LRM5 2LL LL/3ML
each producing ~16 heat. AI'd have lots of fun at range 6 though... Might make its ammo cook off.... but, hey, who lets AI fight with their mechs
