Depending on how long empire is in my hands, will replace 2 OSR-2Ms and a GRF-1N that i recently lost due to loss of connection mid war.

Empire has positive income, is not a messed up high level empire. Is built to kill, and does so effectively.

If you buy any video game, you're paying for the same stuff Nev is made out of. I find it hard to believe you haven't bought a video game. And you're not going to go into Best Buy, offer $1 for Madden 2005, and not get laughed at. Same here for bidding well under market value for a good lvl 6.

Although, to be honest mage, I don't know how much more than $20 that empire will get in this buyers market, but I've been wrong before and smaller empires usually sell for closer to their actual worth than larger empires.

The value of an empire also comes from the time and effort put forth by the owner building the emp up as well as the DP invested by him.

the market value of an empire comes from what people want to pay for it.

and now it's next to nothing, even if it's a nice lvl6 like this one.

the investment of the DP alone doesn't matter. (just look at Whirlwind and the Axeman, lot of DP invested, but don't make the empire any better.)

The value of an empire is also to the buyer himself. He offered what he felt was reasonable to him. The seller can always say no and hold out for a better offer.

I do not understand why you all are getting after him, he is taking the risk of buying an empire just to have it over run by someone else. Just because the empire is safe with the current owner does not mean you buy the freinds that help keep that empire safe. With this in mind the buyer may have people that dislike him and would attack this new empire of his before he has a chance to look it over and adjust it to his likes and dislikes and thus have the military lined out to his liking.

Big thing is, this is a forum where people are BIDDING, you always bid low, the seller always counters high and you come to a middle ground. Insulting the buyer immediately is a good way to lose a potential buyer as he does not have to put up with it.

You're right Sdoc, a empire never gets on the market what was put into it. But every little bit does add value, even if its only a fraction of the investment.

The only reason I offered $21 dollars is I was wondering why Mage is climbing the walls. What if the first bid was for $1000... $1000?
I have concerns buying player-made empires.
Are defences setup...correctly (or incorrectly for easy kill/rep by raider X). Is there a game-plan by people who know the seller to hotdrop all TC/mine/high-infra zones (be known by seller or not)
As for comparing a player-made empire in a free-based game vs. a produced-game...sure, whatever.

Well you can look at it like this to see some people's point of view.

Store bought game costing $50 is about 5-6 hours of work for me RL to purchase.

But 5-6 hours of RL work at the job to flat out purchase a empire vs months of tedious empire building plus any dp spent on the process is the thing I'd weigh. I think it's worth it myself providing I have the extra cash anyway. How long, how much dp, and how many funds transfers (providing you own a well funded empire) would it take for you to build an empire like this?

So if you look at it from that point of view, its money well spent. (Although $50 was just the number I grabbed here so don't get upset thinking he's charging that much.)

When most people buy empires they check it out first. But if you are concerned about buying a empire, then don't. Build em up the old fashioned way like many of us did, no funds transfers, no dp, just good old sitting and waiting. Kinda boring and I don't envy anyone starting anew. Yet there is no need to belittle or discourage others who are willing to do the footwork, to check on what they are looking to purchase and find friends who'll protect them. Have your friends put the empire under protection while its being moved to a new faction or alliance.

So, make your bids. Mage and Takira will say ya or nay or whatever they want. If you're looking for a decent lw empire at the fun levels before lwing gets to be a multiday ordeal, this one is good. Mech skills like these get harder and harder to find and much harder to create yourselves.
