Fighting off Empire Corruption

I noticed mention of future impliments will allow empires to fight off empire corruption. My suggestion/idea would be to allow empires to "spawn" pirates that are causing the corruption-- as a means of routing them out. When you fight off the force that is the cause of the corruption, your corruption penalties go down. Over time your corruption will rise back to its max penalty and remain until you again fight off the corruption. The BV of the spawn would be proportional to your empire. This way people can elect not to fight and it would be no different than it is now. But those who are active and want to fight -or- want to increase their daily income, have a means of doing so. Win/Win. People are not penalized more than they are now... but those who want to be pro-active get the benefit.
I know I would love to see my $8,165,513 of corruption per nevday go down.

Support it. More cash, more fun, more skilldowns. What could possibly go wrong!?

...also the possibility of losing units in combat. So it does come with a small risk; which is good.

As much as I would enjoy ridding my empire of the 220 million per nevday corruption, I don't much want 1 million bv of pirates. I would prefer that they just code the corruption reduction research they told us we would get, just like the land management we did get.
Corruption is a function of population. The more people you get, the more you lose to corruption in your government. There will, in the future, be technologies introduced to reduce this figure but right now there is nothing you can do about it; corruption is a fact of life for large empires.
This is straight from the administration costs page.

I like this idea in "the war against corrupt rebels or officials." Kill them all in a war, like click a button on the wars page that says fight off corruption and boom some zones are shown to have units and you just send yours and kill them. Hope they code it!

Well gunner, you'd have a choice - lose 100mil/nd unnecessarily, or face 1million bv pirates. You're one end of the scale. Others of us welcome this just to have pirates back, and if that makes my corruption go down a bit, that's cool. I'd be quite happy with pirates to be there just for the tp. Or salvage. Bring back pirate salvage.

Just eliminate Pirate Infantry and 1 million BV of Pirates wouldn't be so terrible if you planned on it. If it wasa button you hit and then it spawned pirates in 1 hour.. for big empires you could plan it ahead with pilots ready to help... schedule for a time when there is little LW to be had or something. And with free LC's it would be alot cheaper I think.. Especially if you got skilldowns like are happening with LW currently in addition to TP?! Hrrrmmm
But whatever you do.. if you bring Pirates back.. do not allow Infantry.. that was nothing but a boring hunt for players.. God it sucked chasing down battalions of infantry.

Out of topic:
In addition, maybe ECM should not affect infantry at all.
I mean.... infantry given the benefit of using ECM? 0.o
Unless they have some kind of jammer on their body.

Oh, and also, pirates gunnery should max out at some value, rather than being able to go into the negatives.
I mean, pirates that's as skilled as elite commando units? illogical.

Hehe. Ask what people rather had to face, skill 6 regiments, or skill -4 companies?
ECM does affect infantry, as it does not affect the infantry, but the oposing sensors. ECM is only supposed to work on not LOS contacts anyway.

I'd like to face the skill 6 regiments then I can pick which mechs to rep up.
And I think this is a good idea, but before players spawn their pirates, let them know how manyBV they're likely to face, so they can adequately prepare.

stated today in the updates 'pirate page taken out' ...and there have been no pirates at all for ages. I would say that is basically an offical way of stating pirates ain't around no more.

seems to me that corruption should be eliminated all together, or like IRL be required to be kept in check, with the really cool pirate idea, or possibly very expensive units that can also fight in battle highly trained like the US/Neveron version of the CIA, because left unchecked corruption spins out of control, look at mexico

Yeah right and US/EU officials are immune to corruption...
Corruption is one of the soft empire size checks, similar to the soft 19k unit cap and OMT.

As in lobbying?
Anyway, it is a needed variable for a stable game environment.. Without anything to limit growth, no choises have to be made in empire design. IE, no differentiation needed = no fun.

I Dont see how corruption affects empire design choices. Corruption, as it says on the page, is a "function of population." So I guess the only way it affects design is deciding whether or not to grow your empire.
But anyway...yeah...pirates...killing....parts...rep...morale....MMMMmmmmmmm....C'mon admins, all us 16-18 year olds need something to do in our long summer holidays
