I would like to suggest that more land be created as a number of my empires suffer from SoI problems from the larger empires that have since moved into areas that at the time were very open. I now have large cities on my borders that all but make it impossible for me to garrison my cities. Most of these large cities did not exist before SoI was implemented but were relocated because the Admin are punks and couldn't show any backbone. I am now being penalized for thinking ahead and actually adapting to the horrible change wrought beforehand and not waiting till the last day. I would like to relocate again but would prefer more open land preferring this not happen again.

Since the larger empires far exceed my ability to war and growing larger would be stupid as the game becomes far more convoluted with ignorant additions that greatly diminish the game and foster a decidedly unpleasant admin/player relationship in need of major therapy sessions. I suggest either more land be created or all together removed and battle maps be randomly generated based on empire size or SoI.

-Empire Cities would be listed as they are now.

-An attacker would then select a target city.

-As cities generate SoI based off its size... the number of zones or battle maps generated would be in proportion to the city’s SoI... with the last map being the city itself.

-An attacker would have to conquer all maps before they would be allowed to attack the city. Once the attacker takes the city they could begin anew with another city barring surrender/mini-surrender/cease-fire/blah blah blah…

-An attacker would be allowed to withdraw units from the map as normal and even ship home units after a 72 hour holding period in which the defender is allowed attack per number zone/map attacks received.

-Hot dropping would be allowed only on cities penalties removed save piloting skill savings rolls.

-Each city is only allowed to be attacked every 72 hours.

-The defender would designate a certain number units allowed to meet the enemy on those open fields/generated battle maps. Towers may be exempt from participating in this force... units could still be preplaced but would not have the benefit of terrain. This of course simulates an active defense though the defender may opt to deploy no force.

-City battles would be unaffected as those maps would be hard coded as now. Thus unit preplacement (ie towers) could still take advantage of defensive terrain.

-Battle resolution would not change much other than land would simply disappear and all units would need to be garrisoned in some type of city/town/shanty environment as fortress mechzones would disappear… but they’re gone anyway.

-Large number units would not need to be kept on-hand… but again they’re gone anyway.

-Also maybe the Admins would stop bitching that we never have anything constructive to add to the game as the pages upon pages upon pages of simply silly requests voiced by the immature player base who simply want to complain and nothing else because they have only played this game for like two seconds but believe it or not ACTUALLY do the real play testing... are oblivious to the obvious brilliance of the more recent changes.

Correct me if I am wrong, but isnt there a great deal of unclaimed land in unsettled regions of the map?

Okay, not understanding the concept of a "dead thread."

The availability of so called unsettled land is proportional to the number of large cities in the area... ie while the land may be in fact unclaimed that does not mean that it is favorable to build in such areas as a few large cities with little surrounding territory can dominate the region. It is far more favorable to consolidate population into large zones with the new changes and maintain just enough zones to garrison your cities with high end units making the cities near impregnable. With new mini-surrenders it is possible or preferable to lose high end BV units and mini-surrender as opposed to creating a whole bunch of tent cities garrisoned by low end units that really do not contribute to your SoI and thus dominate your area. So while the land may be unclaimed that does not mean if you were to build in an area shadowed by a mega-city that you will be able to build cities that are able to counteract that mega-city especially if your comparatively smaller than your neighbor… Thus you would be forced to relocate and hope that no empire is able to generate a larger city near you or you would once again be forced to relocate because you are prevented from warring due to restrictions or you simply lack the capacity because you can never grow effectively because SoI will continue to work against your efforts. While the large empire may not intend to drive you out they ARE NOT GOING TO MOVE because some little empire wants them to. So the reason I wanted more land was because empires grow larger not smaller and over time smaller empires may be driven from their current landholdings through the course of the game… unclaimed land does not mean anything… the large cities in the vicinity do.

Note: I'm taking point of view that you will actually want to build and stay in a particular area as opposed to having a mobile empire sustained by tent cities and recent conquests or merc contracts. Based on how I see the game evolving in the future... granted I could be wrong?
