that nobody really RP's on Neveron anymore. This particular forum area used to be rich in creativity and story telling.

well...you ask for it and you shall recieve! I shall begin work on a topic of stories of Dee's adventures through the neveron.
It will be creative, entertaining, and full of twists and turns. I'll even base parts of it on things that actually happened.

ever seen a lot of people roleplay in Starcraft?
or in Counterstrike?
most of the roleplayers are gone or don't play a role anymore, the warriors are left. also the competition is to tough now, to allow oneself the disadvantages roleplay requires.
i'm glad dee even proven me wrong before i posted this. let's start an avalanche of RP mate!

i still have a rpg group. and we still play rpgs when we have time. problem in nev is some people use this as their stress toy?

I disagree that RP requires an element of disadvantage. It simply requires an imagination, and placing your empires (or alliances) actions in the context of RP.
Unfortunately every perceived grudge and ill in the game now has a direct OOC link. Hoppy is a perfect example of what is critically wrong with the playerbase. He bases exactly 0% of his in game actions on any sort of "role", in fact I don't think he understands the concepts behind "roleplay".
Hoppy, and players like him, operate solely off of OOC hatreds of other players. He's not the only one, but he's perhaps the loudest these days.
Even in the midst of the worst hostilities between Kizo, NC, the Clans, etc and HoC, there was an element of roleplay involved to at least soften the persistent OOC hostility.
This is not longer really the case. Conflict is now almost exclusively OOC driven.
Really a shame, as Nev deserves better. And so do we.

it requires disadvantage if you play it also on the battlefield. that's things like allowing your opponents mechs to retreat, after fighting honourably. or bidding previous to a fight, as Claner.
i don't think hoppy is a good example as he's obviously suffering some psychological problems.
the great majority of the players however still can see the difference between in game hostility and real life. however those who can't are much louder.... and there are less players who will stop the loudmouthing players.

You can join those loudmouthed players or try to maintain honor and roleplay.
I for one, still want to roleplay.
Neveron is my escape from reality, I have done a couple of Nev Babes and like Dee will put up a story. soon.

Well Sdog, it can be up to the players just how far to go... I.E. letting an opponent off the field of battle. That sort of thing used to happen quite a bit, as you remember. =) Not so much any more, due in some part to the "total war" that is now required by Neveron, and in other part to the hate that is driven between most of the actively hostile factions. But RP can still be maintained at least superficially without any negative impact upon your battlefield survivability. =)
It may be the small unaligned factions that have the best chance to change Nev's course in the long run. They are not as shackled by the current status quo.
And Markon, looking forward to some more of your graphical wizardry. =)

hoppy is my friend. but i couldn't resist, i laughed when i read that.
as to RP. i joined a faction soley based on the fact that they said it was going to be an RP faction. next thing you know we are being dictated who can join to us if we don't want to be attacked by, we'll just call it a large alliance, and we have to remove certain members who joined to partake in said RP. instances like that are quite obviously a leading contributor to why RP is quite dead in nev.

sigh...HoC ruins RP. I on the other hand take a clear stand...are you dumb? I fight HoC, that's my role. I play it well. You guys need to stop bringing things up about me or ill just talk to nic, seeing as taking cheap shots OOC like that get you banned from the forums. trust me, i would know;-)

Uhmm. You don't really play it well at all. Almost all the empires you had were / are being destroyed. Its also not considered a role but a personal vendetta probably stemming from being a sore loser or not having things go your way. HoC and Kizo had some of the largest conflicts in the game and it was mostly a healthy rivalry based somewhat on roleplay. Nothing you have done in this game has been remotely close to RPing other than the 1 pubmail describing a victorious battle of yours. (I bet you somehow cheated for that anyway :P)

Calling you a cheat when we have evidence and proof of you cheating is not a cheap shot but reality. So either get over it or do something about it. The first step in any program is admitting you have a problem.
