Legendary Pilot immunity to skill ups

The most well known and feared pilot in a unit of it's type all across the planet. Why not make them immune to skilling up?
This might create some sort of competition for the spot of legendary mech and it might get people to consider using less popular variants for the ease with which they cane become the legendary pilot.
And, on the whole, it is only 1 out of all the units of it's type that gains this and if it's active anyway it should be able to hold off skill ups. But at least it will give a viable way to permanently* avoid skill ups.
*permanent so long as you stay the legendary pilot.
And, since it will be brought up I'm sure, there are a lot of super high rep units out there already and since rep gain was cut significantly it will be damn near impossible to catch up to them and keep them out of the legendary position so "it's just favouring the uber empires blah blah whine". Yes, some people will be hard to catch, but it doesn't really favour anyone. It's not like they are getting some uber new upgrade making their high rep unit into a hussar of doom or something.
Then again, you could always go head hunting or pay mercs for the sole goal of killing a certain mech. I'm hoping other people might like the idea of trying to get mechs into the legendary position to, and so give something else people can set as a goal that will give at least some sort of reward.
Well, that's my suggestion.

Rep is too easy to gain by cheesy means. Such a system would only encourage more false wars and artificially repped units.

so? everything is cheesy. I figure people would use the "cheesy rep gain" to make it easier to upgrade their mechs.
False wars wouldn't be encouraged by this, honestly. How many people are going to think "dude, if I can just get my mackie 20 rep I can make it immune to skill ups! do you have enough to throw at it to give it the rep?" and I doubt it would get people going "ya know if I can get my rhino another 200 rep it can be immune to skill ups! do you got enough to throw at it to do that?"
It's actually not all that easy to gain rep by cheesy means, since the cost of doing it the cheesy way is massive. Unless of course you know of a cheap and effective way, in which case I would be quite interested to hear...
-EDIT- Oh something came to me in a dream! and making new posts is for n00bs, so... Doing something like taking a light mech, using it to finish off things to gain rep and then switching the pilot to a bigger mech is counter productive, since you lose a skill and rep when you switch them and the point of having a legendary mech with this suggestion is to avoid skill ups....then there's also the fact that wayward added in the thing that delays skill ups by scoring kills....on the whole, it will just encourage people to make use of that new thing more at worst

How about when you win/lose a faction war, you are immune from the skillups during the protection period? Assume that all your surviving soldiers are back at base, reviewing gun camera footage and finding out what went right/wrong/spectacularly disastorous, and therefore is considered "training". It would save loosing 10k BV after a level 10 successfully completes a FWAR and decides to take a break before doing it again.
Of course, this would me someone has to pay attention.

sounds very good. i think people should get more incentives to go into fake FWARs, and avoid being attacked or attacking themselves. Imunity from skill ups could be a very good incentive for the few remaining large factions that don't do it, to begin with constantly staying in fake FWARs.
