Buildable movement parts

Veh movement parts for repairing tanks should be producable. They should be automatically researched when you learn the appropriate level movement research (such as 20 ton track movement concept, ect..).
Also, mech legs should be producable when the mech is researched.
The cost should be very cheap for -1 movement parts (getting incrementally more expensive based on tonnage/movement type) and just reasonably cheap for 0 movement parts.
Honestly, there's no reason this shouldn't have been coded years ago.

from what ive been told, it was. Wws/Randy pulled them out because they wanted more tanks sold, ie no parts, get a new one to replace the old, or scrap some to try for the parts.
I agree that all the parts including the engines should be buildable. Granted the producing empires will have to build this stuff before assembling the units, but pretty sure they could make as much if not more money off the repair parts as the unit itself. Things like hunter movement/engines and strikers come to mind there.
So as I see it, the old admins wanted skills do worsen as you moved the crews to new units or bought more to replace or scrap for parts.

well said, not being able to produce parts for repairs of vehcs or mechs when you have to have the weapons on hand in order to outfit that unit is idiotic, the research tech of movement concept should mean you have to design the parts for that movement research which would go hand in hand with repair capability of the bays i.e. higher tech lvl combined with movement research completed increases repairs to 100 percent not this 99 percent crap where you still can have a failure and end up scrapping the unit anyway.

Honestly, i have seen brand new things from the manufaturer that were defective. A thermostat for a car that did not open at all. A chevy engine that the factory workers did not put any oil in. The car had less then 50 miles on it. There is a list of other things that i have seen people do, even though they were professionals.
I can agree with 99%.
Even something as stupid as someone using a torch to pull an engine out of a car, but cut the wrong side of the motor mounts.

Movement parts absolutely need to be able to be produced by empires! It is rediculous that they cannot be made. It is such a pain in the **** having to scrounge empires for movement parts.

So ghostrider... you're saying that new-build stuff should have random faults with it?

No. They should work without any issues.
I am saying that there are plenty of cases that something fresh from the factory is broken. Sometimes the part works fine, its the monkey that calls themself a proffesional that installs it wrong or breaks it.
