Building Degradation: A Newb's Perspective

Assumptions:
1) Nev is a supposed to be fun 2) One of Nev's major features is warfare 3) Most Newb's empires start out with buildings of CF 25 which may be destroyed easily by degradation 4) Building degradation was implemented to stop tent cities 5) Building degradation implements a feature that requires the user to use more time and Nev money to avoid their empire falling apart 6) Building degradation will take time and resources away from land warfare
Given how this solution was presented to the community and how it will add frustration and take away from the core elements of Nev I don't see how, as a newb, I can justify committing time, energy, and money into Nev.
I personally don't see how adding levels of frustration for every user to fix the tent cities will be a net benefit to Nev.

The building degradation bug was deactivated after 12 hours in use. http://www.sarna.net/forums/showthreaded.php/Cat/0/Number/163682/page/0/vc/1

If you thought building degradation is hard on noobs, wait till you realize, you will have to fight empires, with upgraded mechs, that you cant do. Empires with 2/3x range towers, which you can also no longer do. Oh and vehicles and mechs will become a thing of the past on the market, cause every decent size production empire can no longer produce any sizeable amount.
Thats not to mention you cant train your forces, you have to wait for them to randomly skill down, and in most cases you will just have a 4/4 pilot.
But dont worry, it is just Wednesday im sure we have more stuff coming that will not completely bend over any new player and rape them till they cry for mom.

Has the building degradation been re-instated since Shadowmaster cancelled it 4 days ago?

I don't understand what happened to the 2x/3x range towers (currently researching one).

You can not research them anymore. Although current towers are still 2x/3x range. Seems like a logical decision to be implemented this way.

It's almost always been like this:
Wait till you [= a Noob] realize, you [= a Noob] will have to fight empires [probably run by 'Veterans In Disguise' and over supplied and extra funded with surplus NevCash generated by one of the big sugar daddy NevCash farm empires] with upgraded [and grossly overpowered uber] mechs, that you can't [afford to] do [or can't purchase as salvaged, uber upgraded Mechs coming from one of the big sugar daddy NevCash farm empires].
As you can see, not that much of a difference here.
New, emerging empires will always run into 'road block' uber empires of 'equal' [cough, cough, yeah, sure] level, run by 'veterans' - with or without disguise -, specifically designed to totally dominate the empire level bracket/s they have been designed for.
How to get past these 'road blocks'?
Either simply buy an existing uber empire - or donate an insane amount of real life cash to build a new, uber, DP-whore empire of doom from scratch via purchasing perfect soldiers, DP only uber Mechs, building instant DP-only infra, buying DP-only zone income doublers -and so on, pretty much the classic "Pay To Win", errr, sorry, "Donate To Win" approach seen in so many cash shop games, so nothing fundamentally 'new' to see here, too.

Empires with 2/3x range towers, which you can also no longer do.
Please relax and simply wait for the next round of 'visionary' admin nerf bat swinging, it shouldn't take too long to nerf these towers into useless goo - soon ...

Have you ever heard of the donate for instant Mech / vehicle option? - No Mech / vehicle 'shortages' to be feared, at least not if you've got sufficient DPs to replace any losses ...

Have you ever heard of the instant "Perfect Soldier" DP only option, or the skill reduction via DPs, or DP only skill multipliers? No skilled military personnel 'shortages' to be feared, at least not if you've got sufficient DPs to replace any losses ...

But dont worry, it is just Wednesday im sure we have more stuff coming that will not completely bend over any new player and rape them till they cry for mom.
The 'ritualized' "bend[ing] over" and "rape[ing]" of almost any new player used to get performed on "Noob (Cannibal) Island", usually by some bored 'Veteran (In Disguise)' (VID), already, but it won't matter much who does it: a bored VID or an admin via new 'visions', or rules changes, or cash shop 'options', the final result should be pretty much the same: poor new player retention and lack of fresh blood in general ...
Just some food for thought ...
Have a nice day / night.

The rate of progression is quite steep. A fresh empire seems to take ~6 months to reach a point where they can do anything except defend. Putting an empire away in an incubator for 2 years is the only way to have a stable, self-sustaining L5.
Unless the game can provide for a new player to be somewhat self-sufficient within 1 or 2 month's time, people are not going to stay... Unless they have some sort of mental problem.
Don't ask why I'm still here.
